The contact owns a 2017 Genesis G90. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stationary, the contact became aware of smoke coming from the driverâs side of the engine. While stopped at a red light, the vehicle was smoking with an oil-burning odor. Additionally, the contact stated that the air bag module light was illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V107000 (Electrical System) and 24V191000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) as possible causes for the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer agreed to assist with the recall repairs but had not provided the parts for the repairs. The failure mileage was 118,000.

In June 2026, after warranty repairs were performed on the vehicle's navigation/display system, a new safety-related problem occurred. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the rearview/backup camera image does not appear on the display. Instead, the navigation map remains on the screen. The vehicle has been at an authorized Genesis dealership since June 4, 2026, and the backup camera problem remains unresolved. The dealership has reproduced and confirmed the problem. According to the dealership, it requested authorization from Genesis to replace the backup camera, but the request was not approved. The dealership later requested authorization to replace the wiring harness, but that req…
My 2019 Genesis G90 (3.3L twin-turbo) previously received Recall 019G for the left turbocharger oil feed pipe at a authorized Genesis dealership. At approximately 137,508 miles, the right side turbocharger oil feed pipe failed. I experienced an engine oil leak, a strong burning oil smell, smoke from the engine compartment, engine light on, lost of power and oil leaking onto hot engine components. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent repair facility, which determined that the right turbocharger oil feed pipe required replacement. I contacted Genesis Motor America requesting goodwill assistance because the right side pipe is the matching component to to the recalled left side, but my re…
I purchased this vehicle brand new in September 2024. Since the time of purchase, it has experienced numerous software-related issues that have affected the reliability and functionality of multiple systems. Wi-Fi Connectivity The in-vehicle Wi-Fi was inoperable for approximately 90 days (September 2024 through December 2024). The Wi-Fi issue returned in March 2026 and remains unresolved. Calendar Synchronization Calendar synchronization has never functioned properly since the vehicle was purchased and remains an ongoing issue. Navigation and Weather Services Failures with the navigation and weather systems began to cascade into other software functions, causing additional features to m…
The centre console screen has completely failed and has gone black. Yes, the screen is available for inspection upon request. The screen houses access to most safety systems in the car, including the reverse camera, front camera, collision avoidance system settings, lane safety settings, blind spot monitoring settings etc. Lack of access to these systems makes driving the car less safe Yes, the problem has been reproduced by a Genesis dealer The dealer had the car for over 2 weeks but was unable to find any fault codes. They were unable to diagnose the root cause of the issue, and no fix was suggested The screen used to flicker once in a while before going blank. It did this for a few mo…
I own a 2024 Genesis G90 with two active NHTSA recalls: 25V474 and 25V833. On April 19, 2026, the vehicle suffered a total electrical failure: âCheck brake systemâ warning Engine would not start Electronic door handles failed; occupants trapped inside for over 20 minutes Turn signals operate abnormally The dealer previously repaired only by reset (no recall fix). This is a life-threatening safety defect affecting brakes, electrical system, and egress. Please open an investigation and enforce recall repairs. I am pursuing Lemon Law relief.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2017–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, engine, unknown or other. 69 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
