What Freightliner 114SD owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Freightliner 114SD safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

The vehicle systems named most often in Freightliner 114SD complaints (one complaint can name several).
In the owners’ own words, as filed with NHTSA. Unverified reports; NHTSA removes personal details before publishing.
The contact owns a 2022 Freightliner XC-S. The contact stated that while attempting to make a turn, the contact was informed by another driver that the turn signals and the high beam headlights were inoperable. The contact was informed that the exterior lighting failed to function properly, making it difficult to identify that the contact was attempting to turn. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
The drive shaft fwd carrier bearing was missing 2 of the 3 bolt that hold it to the cross member. Being held with one bolt change the center line of the drive shaft moving towards the driver's side of the truck this resulted the the drive shaft rubbing on a air tank hanger. I do have pictures. It looks like the missing bolts where never installed.
My problems are the same as what is listed in recall 21V-00H. I have experienced a loss of rear turn singles, brake lights not working, wind shield wipers going off no mater of switch position. The lack of rear lighting can in increase the possibility of a crash .
TRUCK FIRE WITH COMPLETE DESTRUCTION DUE TO HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINES FROM PUMP TO FUEL RAIL. P CLIPS ALLEGEDLY COMPROMISED FUEL LINE. DAIMLER HAS HAD A RECALL BUT THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT NEEDS INVESTIGATED AS THE "FIX" IS NO FIX AND FIRES CONTINUE TO OCCUR.
I WAS DRIVING EAST ON I10 WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I THEN NOTICED THE DASH PANEL GOING IN ALL DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. THE ERROR CODE CAME UP AS J1939. TALKING WITH WINNEBAGO AND CUMMINGS ENGINE THEY BOTH STATED THIS WAS A CHASSIS PROBLEM AND CONTACT FREIGHTLINER. I CALLED THEM IN ORLANDO FLORIDA AND THEY STATED THEY WERE AWARE OF SOME PROBLEM WITH THE DASH INSTRUMENT PANEL OR ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL CONTROL BOARD. THEY ALSO STATED THERE COULD BE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE WIRING HARNESS. I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND DID NOT LIKE PULLING OFF THE ROAD TO CHECK FOR PROBLEMS ON THREE OCCASIONS BETWEEN JACKSONVILLE FL. AND ORLANDO, FL. *TR
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) received Early Warning Reporting (EWR) data from the manufacturer that indicated some number of subject vehicles had allegedly experienced a fracture of one or more support brackets resulting in an unsecured air brake reservoir. This could result in a loss of air pressure necessary for proper service brake application and a potential road hazard if the reservoir separates from the vehicle in operation.By letter dated August 15, 2012, Daimler Trucks North

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2027, owners most often name: electrical system, exterior lighting, fuel/propulsion system. 5 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
