We purchased a new 2026 travel trailer on XXX. We were sitting outside under our trailers' awning and had just gone in with our grandsons to put in a movie for them when we heard a large banging sound and after trying to open the door with much difficulty, we realized the awning had separated from the control arm without warning and had fallen with such force that it rocked the trailer. Prior to us going inside, the [XXX] was sitting directly under where the awning tube and arm fell. This control arm is under extreme pressure and given this downward force, I canât imagine the injury he would have received to his head and possibly his neck and spine had we not gone in when we did. I contac…
The contact owns a 2022 Forest River Rockwood Trailer. The contact stated that while attempting to extend the slide-out, the slide-out became stuck and became inoperable. The RV was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a missing Z-bracket. The contact stated that the column became bent due to the missing Z-bracket. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I am reporting a safety defect on a 2022 Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite travel trailer, model 2516S, This RV is equipped with Dexter axle #1 and #9 from a total batch of #288 axles that Forest River recalled on July 27, 2022 under NHTSA recall 22V-558. The RV was purchased on July 15, 2022, twelve days before the recall. Of the 244 recalled RVs with those axles, only the single-axle tent campers were recalled because the defect was visually obvious on those units. On tandem-axle RVs such as this one, the incorrect installation was not visually apparent. This travel trailer was manufactured with brake axle defects and buyers of these units were never contacted. It does not take an engineeri…
The contact owns a 2018 Forest River Rockwood. The contact stated that the RV appeared to be leaning toward the right side over the tire. While the RV was parked, the contact inspected the RV and crawled under the RV and noticed that the frame had several cracks. The contact found two cracks on the right side of the frame above the axle and one crack on the left side above the axle. The RV was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the frame had cracks above the axle. The dealer informed the contact that the RV could not be repaired and was a total loss. The contact notified the insurance company, who declined to file a report due to the damage being a factory defect. The RV remaine…
Spare tire attached by cable underneath camper came loose and was bouncing around on road while still attached to spare tire cable. I had tightened up the spare tire cable prior to our 95 mile trip home, but the cable unwound while traveling until the spare tire started bouncing on road. Fortunately we heard the noise before too much damage was done and we were fortunate the tire didn't come off and become a road hazard to anyone following us. I see on multiple social media postings where this is a known problem with other Geo Pro campers and should be fixed by Forest River through a recall due to the risk of the issue.
Dexter axels can not be aligned, resulting in excessive tire wear and blowouts. I purchased a 2019 Rockwood travel trailer used on [XXX]. Tires looked nearly new. On [XXX] I replaced tires in Kanab, UT. On 8/31/2021 I had the alignment checked at Superior Spring in Cheshire, MA. The axels were severely out of alignment but due to the Dexter design they could not be aligned. I called the trailer manufacturer and was referred to Dexter. Although I was 2 years into the 10 year warranty, Dexter told me the warranty only covered the original purchaser. Since that time, I have replaced tires two more times on 5/3/2022 and 4/10/2023. The tires are now showing uneven wear and will need to be replace…
There was a fire that was created with the factory installed wiring that initiated at the shore power connection where one of the 50 amp wires was loose, heated up, melted the surrounding area and started a fire.
I purchased a MicroLite 2515s in January. However, one of my internal TPMS died on the front passenger tire. I received a replacement sensor from TST and had it installed today. When the tire tech dismounted the tire from the rim, he found sections of the metal band that holds the sensor, loose inside the tire. Multiple pieces of metal, sharp edges, sharp corners falling around the inside of the tire. Whoever installed the sensors at Forest River cut the band and left the scraps inside the tire. This is a huge safety issue for my family and other drivers on the road when those metal pieces shred the inside of the tire. Clearly, the installer either did this on purpose, or was just negligent…

ODI opened RQ14-004 based on 3 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) which reported a condition similar to recall 13V-554.This recall addressed insufficient clearance between the tire and trailer floor. Both of the vehicles not included used a different fra

No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
