1. The high pressure fuel system failed, specifically the secondary fuel filter. The fire originated from the injector manifold, burning straight up to the bottom of the hood. Fuel was everywhere and the driver could obviously smell it. 2. This could have been a life threatening fire. 3. The problem has been confirmed by an independent fire safety company that was hired by our insurance. 4. The vehicle was inspected by insurance representatives and the fire department. 5. The Low Air buzzer went off in the cab, indicating the fire had burnt through the air lines to the brake system 6. It is notable that the 2021 Ford F-750 was recalled due to fire hazard.
The contact owned a 2019 Ford F-750 SD. The contact stated that while an employer was driving at approximately 40 MPH, he smelled a burning odor. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and inspected. The contact observed flames emanating from the engine compartment. The fire department extinguished the fire. No police report was filed. The fire melted the asphalt under and near the vehicle. No medical attention was needed. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,652.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-750. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle shut off. The contact pulled over on the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 76,000.
Axle Shaft Gaskets have been replaced multiple times due to Leaking oil on the Drive Axle. This occurs about every 20,000 miles. Both of our other F-750 Trucks (1 other is a 2017 & the other one is a 2018) have the same issue. Appears that the gasket is pushed out.

For 20202026 vehicles equipped with the 10R140 transmission, a new Transmission Clutch Circuit Leak Test has been introduced in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). This test utilizes the pressure and vacuum transducer (PVT) when available. Workshop Manual (WSM) updates related to this diagnostic procedure are planned for release in Q4 2026. The new test improves the accuracy of detecting leaks within transmission fluid circuits and replaces the previous air check method. The previous air check procedure has been shown to produce a high rate of false positives, which may lead to unn

Before replacing the transmission fluid pan or gasket, verify the torque of the fluid pan bolts and stud bolts. If the torque is incorrect, tighten the pan bolts and stud bolts to the specified torque following the proper torque sequence in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01. After tightening, verify t
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: engine, power train, forward collision avoidance. 12 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
