The contact owned a 2017 Ford F-450. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 MPH, there was a loud pop coming from the engine compartment, and the vehicle immediately caught fire. While attempting to turn off the vehicle, the vehicle failed to turn off. The contact exited the vehicle and called the Fire Department, and the fire was extinguished. A fire report was filed. The fire was caused by fuel leaking onto the engine. The vehicle was deemed totaled. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
We were hit on I20, when the vehicles front air bags as well as the sos safety equipment (horns emergency hazard lights) failed. When hit we were pushed across three travel lanes into several cement barriers, collecting a semi truck traveling in the slow lane going 40+MPH. We all went down an embankment into a concrete runoff, into steep ditch. We were hit by a Dodge Charger on the driver side and a semi truck on the passenger side. Truck was totaled with major damage on all sides. We were also pulling a 30â travel trailer that came apart and all the contents scattered across the ditch and side of the interstate. Police report is on file, I do not have a copy.
Unknown. This vehicle when driving and come to a complete stop will jerk forward. It has been to 2 different ford dealerships to assist with this issue and has been "covered" under transmission control module recall and reprogrammed as per their invoices, but has not fixed the issue. It is currently at the 2nd dealership while they are furthering this inspection.

The driver attempted to extinguish the fire with assistance using three fire extinguishers but failed to extinguish the fire. The failure mileage was unknown.
Failure of a $70 thermocouple sensor in the air conditioning unit requires replacement of the entire evaporative cooler, which requires removal and reinstallation of the entire dash from the vehicle. This should be a part serviceable without such extensive work.

For 20202026 vehicles equipped with the 10R140 transmission, a new Transmission Clutch Circuit Leak Test has been introduced in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). This test utilizes the pressure and vacuum transducer (PVT) when available. Workshop Manual (WSM) updates related to this diagnostic procedure are planned for release in Q4 2026. The new test improves the accuracy of detecting leaks within transmission fluid circuits and replaces the previous air check method. The previous air check procedure has been shown to produce a high rate of false positives, which may lead to unn

Some 2024-2026 F-150, 2025 Explorer/Aviator, 2025-2026 Expedition/Navigator, or 2026 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U211B:43:48 stored in the body control module (BCM) when performing a Self-Test. This DTC sets due to an internal BCM timing issue during the self-test process. This specific code has no customer impact and does not cause any drivability concerns or warning messages. Clearing DTC U211B:43:48, reprogramming the BCM, or replacing the BCM is unlikely to prevent this DTC from setting. This DTC does not trigger a condition covered under warranty. Note:

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: engine, electrical system, power train. 199 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
