I have a 2020 Ford Edge Titanium. Only six years old. It has never been wrecked, flooded or had anything else happen to it. I learned today that it needs a completely new transmission due to a torque converter failure and comes at a cost that is higher than the car is now worth. This is unacceptable in a car this age.
At approximately 110,000 miles, my 2016 Ford Edge Titanium with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine developed a rough-start/rough-running condition. The vehicle was diagnosed with coolant entering cylinder #2. I had not noticed an obvious coolant-loss problem before the condition was diagnosed. Ford TSB 19-2346, dated December 19, 2019, addresses coolant intrusion into the cylinders on 2015â2018 Ford Edge vehicles equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. The bulletin describes possible rough running, white exhaust smoke and/or low coolant, and provides for long-block replacement when the specified conditions are present. I am concerned that this condition could result in engine misfire, loss of engi…
Rough engine idle at startup. Coolant Level dropped. Added coolant. Engine light came on. Rough idle at startup got worse. Suspected engine gasket failure.
Coolant intrusion into cylinder 2 of the 2.0L EcoBoost engine, confirmed by an independent mechanic. In early July 2026, at about 107,100 miles, the check engine light came on. The engine ran rough and shook on cold starts, and a scan showed misfire codes P0302 and P0304. The coolant reservoir was almost empty, but there was no external leak: cardboard under the engine stayed dry overnight. Coolant gurgled behind the dash after each cold start. I logged the engine with an OBD-II data logger over several cold starts. After the car sat about 32 hours, cylinder 2 misfired 4 times in the first 9 seconds after start-up and then ran clean. After about 21 hours parked, it did not misfire. That pa…
On September 23, 2026, while driving my 2016 Ford Edge SEL with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine, the engine temperature began rising into the overheating range. The temperature fluctuated while the vehicle was moving and returned closer to normal when stopped. I checked the coolant and found it very low. Approximately 3/4 gallon of coolant was added. After driving approximately 20 miles, the temperature gauge remained normal. By September 25, the coolant reservoir was again nearly empty, indicating substantial coolant loss. The vehicle has also had a check-engine light for several months, a previously identified misfire code, and has recently been shaking/rough-running when started. I am concerne…
The brake booster has gone out and the car donât want to stop
In late August 2026, I was driving my 2019 Ford Edge SEL (2.0L EcoBoost, AWD, 8F35 8-speed automatic) at approximately 100,085 miles with my young son as a passenger. After coming to a normal stop at a stop sign, the vehicle would not engage any gear when I attempted to pull away. It rolled in neutral, with no drive power, approximately 150 feet past the stop sign before coming to a stop. The rotary shifter then automatically returned itself to Park. The wrench and check engine warning lights were illuminated. From that point on, the transmission would not engage any gear, including Neutral. Every time I tried selecting a gear, the shifter automatically returned to Park. The vehicle was com…
Have water intrusion into engine which caused engine to overheat and started knocking as I was trying to get off hwy to safety from other hwy traffic. And ford knows about this issue and will not do nothing until if fails. Well I failed on me and put me in a unsafe zone when it did and now its out of warranty and ford wants to charge me thousands to repair thier flaw they know has issues and can put customers into danger areas when fails
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

Some 2021-2026 Ford/Lincoln vehicles may exhibit various symptoms including but not limited to the auto start/stop system not operating as intended with a "Check Charging System" message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) while the charging system is operating properly with no charging related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored. This may be due to someone using an aftermarket programmer to change the body control module (BCM) configuration to disable the auto start/stop system or perform other unsupported programming modifications. To correct this condition on F-150 and Bronco vehicles,

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) received a petition on August 5, 2026, requesting a defect investigation into the 2.0 Liter EcoBoost engine on model year 2015-2018 Ford Edge vehicles. The petition alleges that engine coolant intrusion results in a significant loss of engine power, accompanied by an "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" warning message. The petition further alleges that after the vehicle has sat and cooled down, the engine runs roughly and generates a check engine light f
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2024, owners most often name: engine, electrical system, power train. 11,676 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
