The Opti-View Digital Dash module began delaminating causing cracks in the screen. This made it difficult to impossible to read the dashboard gauges including speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge & other operating gauges. I had to replace the dash module in order to safely operate the vehicle. I understand this is a common problem with the Freightliner Custom Chassis that the motorhome is built on.
The Dashboard Module provided by MEDALLION INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEMS Part# 66-02439-000 on the Freightliner Chassis is delaminating causing the critical gauges to become difficult to read. Additionally the screen will unexpectedly dim causing additional readability. I consider this to be a potential safety issue as it is unknown if and when the screen may go entirely blank. I have contacted Freightliner and they will not warranty the part even though it appears they own Medallion and this part is proprietary. There apparent fix is a $6,000 replacement which is 2.5% of the cost of the motorhome. In the photos attached I do not have a photo of the dimming screen since this would be a safet…
Vehicle electronic drivers gauge panel is 'separating' behind the glass causing issues with seeing important safety and engine guages.
March 2020, Driver's side low beam lens cracked upon debris impact but still operated. Sealed outside with clear packing tape. July 22, 2023, ordered replacement LED headlights from Kaper II, they had said original lights are not available any longer. In investigating in January of 2023, found a recall for same problem on vehicles manufactured just prior to mine. Details of recall (RECALL CAMPAIGN #170720REV) matched headlights in my coach. Contacted REV Fleetwood, they said not specified VIN in recall, no coverage. Contacted Kaper II (headlight distributor), they said matched description, they would provide original high (not reimburse for low beams), not pay for installation or alignment…
THIS IS EXTRACTED FROM A LETTER THAT I SENT TO FORD ON 24 JANUARY 2022. They never responded. I was horrified and shocked to see multiple (16 parts weighing in at about 6 pounds) components missing from the mounting hardware on the rear sway bar suspension. From my laymanâs understanding the front and REAR sway bars are a SAFETY CRITICAL component for the safe handling of such a large vehicle. We were told by a Ford Dealer in NC that his service technician often sees some or all of these sway bar components loose or missing when performing RV service. My question to the Ford Dealer in NC was âthen why didnât the Service Technician put a wrench on the sway bar bolts which had to…
The contact owns a 2019 Fleetwood Discovery. The contact stated that while doing a post-inspection on the RV, he noticed that the passengerâs side rear tire was flat. The passenger side rear tire valve stem extension rubbed on the wheel rim, causing loss of tire pressure. The failure was a recurring failure even after the dealer performed a recall repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V529000 (Tires). The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that multiple failures after the recall repair were not experienced before. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,150.

THE UNDERCARRIAGE SIDE STORAGE ACCESS DOORS DO NOT REMAIN CLOSED EVEN WHEN LOCKED. OFTEN WHEN THE ROAD IS BUMPY OR ROUGH THE DOORS WILL FLY OPEN. RECENTLY WHILE TRAVELING THROUGH JACKSONVILLE FL ON I-95 THE PASSENGER SIDE DOORS FLEW OPEN WHEN I SLOWED DOWN. I WAS IN THE CENTER LANE DURING HEAVY HEAVY TRAFFIC AND CARS ON MY RIGHT HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES AND VEER TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING THE DOORS. HAVING TO GET OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE TO GET OF THE ROAD WITH THE DOORS OPEN WAS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND WE WERE FORTUNATE TO MAKE IT WITHOUT A SERIOUS INCIDENT. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALER TO ADJUST THE LOCKING MECHANISM WHICH HE SAID HE DID BUT THE DOORS CONTINUE TO FLY OPEN. THIS AS BEEN RE…

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2023, owners most often name: electrical system, unknown or other, structure. 10 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
