The contact's wife owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The vehicle lost power while depressing the accelerator pedal in the middle of an intersection and narrowly avoided being struck by an 18-wheeler. The ABS light came on and the Brake light came on plus the traction light is on. The car will not activate cruise control or the traction control either. We have no idea when it will completely stop working and causing an accident as a result. The problem has been identified as the ABS Brake Module by Integrity Automotive in Wylie Texas. Both Autozone and Orielly's have printed off the same codes. The lights in the dash have been on for 3 days.

My 2020 Dodge Journey is subject to FCA Recall 59C / NHTSA Campaign 25V-552 involving the rearview camera. The camera malfunction affected the rearview image used when backing. While the recall was open, I contacted an authorized Dodge dealer. I was advised that FCA's official recall remedy/parts had not yet been released. The dealer nevertheless offered a customer-paid camera replacement and provided pricing. Because the vehicle was used for rental, the open safety recall also prevented it from being listed on the rental platform. In approximately October 2025, while the official recall remedy remained unavailable, the rearview camera was replaced at my expense. I later submitted a pre-no…

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE23-008 on May 1, 2023 to investigate an incident involving a 2009 Dodge Journey alleging occupant entrapment during a vehicle fire that resulted in a fatality. During the investigation, ODI collected information from the manufacturer and involved parties to confirm or refute the defect allegation. In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2022, owners most often name: electrical system, engine, service brakes. 3,937 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
