What Dodge Durango owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Dodge Durango safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

The driverside headrest has spontaneously deployed, it is due to an internal failure where a plastic retention bracket cracks. It is a known issue for earlier model years, but 2019 has been left out of the warranty extension (2018 is the end of the current coverage period). This is the same headrest design/part that is covered for repair in earlier years, and is an $1,100 replacement. We would like this repair to be considered for the warranty coverage as it is the same issue being acknowleged and addressed for earlier model years.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, the driverâs side headrest unexpectedly exploded. The contact stated that it felt like being struck by a ball in the back of the head. The contact had a mild headache and treated the headache with painkillers. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
The daytime running light and blinker went out way sooner than it should have and cost a fortune to replace just for it to fail again in another year. I had only owned the car for 8 months before they went out. It is unsafe and absolutely should be fixed when this is a well known issue with this year, make, and model vehicle. So many people have the exact same issue and it should be fixed. Itâs just going to happen again. I have 4 kids and it is unsafe to be driving with no blinker but cost almost $2000 to replace and I cannot do that. When so many people have the exact same issue, there should absolutely be a recall on the headlight assembly and it should be fixed. You canât replace jus…
Loss of windshield defrosting and dash air vents - systems and devices intended to provide or maintain the operator's ability to see the roadway severe cabin temperature hazards. Resulting in loss of ability to maintain driver's ability to see roadway during rainy/foggy/cold conditions. Dash air vents result in severe cabin temperature hazards in heat higher temperatures. No warning lights or messages or symptoms before, air flow just stops and not having air flow is sign of problem. Vehicle was taken to both dealership service center and independent service center after issue returned.
The rear spoiler detached on I-40 East bound and flew into traffic. This occurred on 9/25/2026. I have contacted my local dealership multiple times and they have informed me that a permanent fix is not available and the part is on back order. I am requesting that the replacement be ordered, installed, and properly inspected free of charge. Dodge is very lucky injury didnât occur.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an engine misfire with a ticking sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer confirmed that the failure was associated with a previous issue with the left side of the engine. The vehicle was scheduled to be repaired by the dealer. The contact stated that the failure persisted after a previous engine repair and that the failure persisted. The contact was concerned that the manufacturer was aware of the failure and covered the repair under a warranty instead of replacing the engine. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure via the telephone.…

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2027, owners most often name: electrical system, exterior lighting, engine. 4,495 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
