What Chrysler 300 owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Chrysler 300 safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

2015 Chrysler 300S VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 198,677 Finnegan Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, [XXX], completed manufacturer emissions recall UB4 (evaporative emissions canister replacement) on this vehicle. After that repair the check engine light returned. On XXX, AutoZone scanned the vehicle. The only code stored was P0456, EVAP System Leak Detected (very small leak). The scan identified the Emission System Integrity Monitor (ESIM), which mounts on the canister, replaced under UB4. The dealer service advisor, [XXX], said the vehicle would have to be diagnosed again and that I would have to pay for the diagnosis if they found something other than the original recall item. She said a manager would call…
Vehicle received passenger airbag inflator recall service at Viva CDJR in El Paso, TX. The dash disassembly disturbed adjacent wiring/BCM connections, and after driving, vibration caused a short/ground fault, creating runaway wipers, A/C failure, transmission limp mode, check engine and power steering lights while in transit. Dealer has kept the car for over two weeks and refuses to scan diagnostic trouble codes or inspect the recall-adjacent wiring harness. The vehicle has never experienced this issue prior to the recall service.
The vehicle's LCD screen has become delaminated which causes the control of the radio, air conditioning, heat, navigation, and other features controlled by the "radio" portion of the car to become dysfunctional. The car will randomly beep, change air temperatures, start/stop navigation, cause the loss of hands-free communication. This is a safety hazard as it causes the driver to be distracted in order to attend to the incessant beeping, (which doesn't go off even if the power to the unit is shut off) and issues related to AC/heat, navigation or radio (volume, etc.). Winters here are brutal, heat and defrost are required to not die from frost bite, or visual impairment. This appears from Ch…
Gas fumes filled the cabin. I am suffering from headaches from smelling in fumes. This is dangerous and health issues. The gas tank is under passage back seat and costs $2,235 to replace primary and transfer pumps. Is this covered by a recall?
The backup camera system malfunctioned, resulting in a blank or distorted display screen when the vehicle is placed in reverse. This system failure deprives the driver of rear visibility and disables the rear parking collision warning, creating a safety hazard when backing up. I previously brought the vehicle to an authorized Chrysler dealership while under factory warranty specifically to report this backup camera failure, but the dealership noted they "could not duplicate" the problem at that time. The camera was later replaced, but the same defect has reoccurred. Mopar portal records confirm the dealership service visits, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
about 2 years old, I was with my family driving on the freeway when I felt the car veering to the right going off the road. I tried to correct the steering by pulling it to the left. I was not able to correct this steering as it seemed that the steering wheel was lock. I tried stopping the car from going off the road but the brake pedal was very hard to push. It seemed like the car had lose all power. The car went down the hill off the freeway and hit a huge road sign. I was doing 55 to 60 miles per hour and very mush alert. The car finally came to a stop in the middle of the frontage road. We started to push the car and it was hard to push so I attempted to start the car and to my surprise,…
Driving approximately 50 mph on highway when the front glass panel of the sunroof exploded. No other traffic on the road or pulled off the road. No planes flying overhead. Explosion sounded like a gunshot. Have cleaned the car of shattered glass, didnât find any foreign objects in the car.
The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the interior door panel on all four doors was shuddering while the windows were rolled down due to the air resistance. The contact stated that while attempting to depress the button to unlock the door on the driverâs side door, the door failed to unlock as needed. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because the warranty had expired. The contact was adamant that the failure was a safety issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,500.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2023, owners most often name: electrical system, air bags, power train. 1,805 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
