Vehicle and gives error code "Service Safety Restraint System" and Airbag Icon comes on. I drive a 2024 model RS and have not had this vehicle for a full year. The warning comes on periodically. Sometimes when I used the auto start or when the key is used. It also can happen while im driving or after parking. It goes away if I restart the vehicle but eventually comes back on. The code machines can't find an active code.
The contact owns a 2026 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated. The brake pedal was depressed with excessive force; however, the vehicle failed to respond and stop as needed. There were fumes entering the cabin of the vehicle during the failure. The vehicle was scheduled to be towed to a dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,000.
I purchased a vehicle from GM Murfreesboro. I didnât know this at the time of purchase, they sold me a used vehicle with a different vin number registered to a gray trax. [XXX] has been part of this scam. How safe is my vehicle? They sold us the car in the dark. Paid full price. I checked my vin number and it pulled up a gray trax with different features. The door didnât close, gas tank does sense appropriately, the seal on the car is broken, the front windshield has suction cup marks on the inside and freezes with ice inside the windshield. Iâve purchased other cars from them. They probably did the same thing. I just happened to check the vin against the federal database. They are wo…
The exterior lighting system failed due to a severely eroded rear license plate wiring harness and a damaged, melted electrical connector piece, causing the connected lamp assembly (GM Part 13502178) to fail 7 separate times. Total failure of the rear illumination reduces nighttime vehicle visibility to other motorists, increasing rear-end collision risks. Furthermore, the eroded, melted harness creates an un-fused short circuit risk, posing an ongoing thermal/fire hazard inside the rear bumper. The failure loop was officially reproduced and confirmed by Hertrich Chevrolet on September 29th, 2026. Two other Hertrich Chevrolet dealerships had replaced/ repaired this part and they clearly misd…
I am having a problem with my brakes sticking. After it has been sitting all night, the brake pedal will be stiff and Iâm unable to push it down much to start it. Once itâs started it thumps almost like the parking brake was set but I havenât used it and I park on flat land. When Iâm sitting in park, itâs idling as though Iâm pushing the gasâ¦the speed accelerates especially on curvy roads where I brake more frequently. The rotors have been scored for some time. Dealership blames it on them getting heated up. I drove to work and home 15 minutes each way. Iâve had a few long road trips but this scoring happened in a period without any long trips. Something isnât right…
When driving with my [XXX] old âservice power steeringâ message came on and instantly lost all power steering. Almost got on a head on collision. Car has no power steering. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Over the last 18 months the check engine light has come on multiple times while driving. Each time the check engine light came on, the vehicle was taken to the dealer. I was initially told by the dealer that they could not figure it out but to bring the car back if it happens again. Each time after taking the vehicle to the dealer for the check engine light, the dealer added oil to the vehicle. On one occassion the vehicle decelerated suddenly while driving. I reported the incident in a survey that I received from the dealer after an oil change. In April 2026, the dealer said that the engine appears to be consuming too much oil and an oil consumption test is needed. In September 2026, the ve…
September 20th 2026: I was driving my 2024 Chevrolet Trax up a grade (Mountain) approximately 11AM, Driving Normally at Highway speeds, normal highway conditions, temp outside was close to 100 Degrees Fahrenheit, suddenly with no warning half way up the mountain the car lost power, check engine light turned on (Engine Power Reduced) came on, I had no option but to pull over on the highway with only 41,500 miles on the odometer. Being over 200 miles away from my home I felt devastated. Made an appointment the next morning to have the car checked out by the Chevrolet Technicians at the dealership, they stated the Turbo completely failed, the part was on a slight back order they pushed through …

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
