First issue-cracked catalytic converter caused leaking carbon monoxide inside vehicle. When I was driving I could smell strong, nauseating fuel smell and would have to drive with windows open to try and get fresh air. Took it to local shop for repair which cost $2700. After repair did some research and found special coverage warranty for 2018 Traverse for this same issue, however chevy told me because I took it to a third party they would not reimburse. Second issue-when car would go into gas saving mode vehicle would shut off quickly then start back up and all alert lights would come on (ie. engine light, parking light, etc.), vehicle would also show typed alert on screen something about p…
in 2019 GM put out a Bulletin No.: 19-NA-206 to fix an error message for shift in park which means the car thinks it is not in park when it really is. All covered under warranty. in 2022 I had this error message but only the harness was part of the technical bulletin. my extended warranty covered it for the harness. in 2024 GM revised the bulletin to include the shifter console. in 2026 I get the same error message and now GM won't cover the console included in the revised technical bulletin. they knew this was a bad part since they revised the bulletin to include the console. now I'm out of warranty and the GM Customer Assistance denied any responsibility of the incomplete bulletin …
Master cylinder failure on interstate caused complete loss of braking. No accident. Shop replaced master cylinder per GM bulletin. Warning light for brake assist failure came on and pedal went to the floor. This couldâve ended in a mass casualty situation, thank god we were in wide open territory and could coast to a stop which took over a mile in neutral.
I have now had 3 transmissions and 3 torque converters put in my car and GM refuses to do anything to fix this issue.
My 2020 Chevrolet Traverse is experiencing a SHIFT to PARK issue. When the car is placed into PARK, the electrical system does not recognize it and will not shut off the vehicle. There is a defect with the button trigger that allows the gear shifter to move and it is not being recognized. The quick fix is to press this button around 15 times to reset it. Sometimes this works but when on an incline, it does not. It takes turning the vehicle on and off a few times to have this registered. The estimated cost to replace the gear shifter is around $600 to $900 dollars. Please have this item recalled.
Two issues have been occurring with my car amongst many others, but these are the most recent my vehicle has all seatbelt sensors go off despite no one else being in the vehicle, but me the driver my sensor does not go off. It will not stop beeping or screaming at me until I have to pull over turn off my car turn it back on and essentially reset the system. The other thing my car intermittently when I shifted into park at a full stop for example like in my driveway my foot is fully pressed on the brake, and my car will completely shut off and jerk the car forward and backwards when I shift into park, the engine shuts off but the car was never turned off just shifted in to park. and then res…
The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the semi-truck in front of the vehicle started slowing down and the contact depressed the brake pedal and the brakes failed. When the brake pedal was first depressed the brake pedal was extremely firm. While forcefully depressing the brake pedal the brake pedal went to the floorboard and the braking distance became extended. The Brake Assist Failure, Warning Brake, Park, ABS, Starter Control, Crash, and ESC warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the parking brake was inoperable, and the vehicle was coasted to a stop. The contact became aware that there was fluid leaking underneath the vehicle. A…

The message "Limited Braking - No Assistance Braking" was displayed. The vehicle was restarted, and the contact continued driving. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and was awaiting a diagnostic test. The contact was advised that the OnStar modules needed to be replaced, but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 16,000.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.

No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
