The motorcycle unexpectedly shut off while accelerating into an intersection. It appears to be caused by a faulty ignition lock that turns the motorcycle off due to vibration while driving, recorded on video
This motorcycle has had a history of stalling while riding, this issue has persisted through two "repairs" that the dealership deemed safe. It stalled on the way back from retrieving the motorcycle from the supposed repair and put me in a life threatening scenario when the motorcycle stalled in traffic in front of a diesel in a construction zone without any available shoulders. The error that displays on the motorcycle is a yellow "Fault in engine" error that forces me hold in the clutch to turn off the motorcycle, go to first gear, turn the motorcycle back on start the engine then immediately give the motorcycle throttle. Doing so all while rolling to a stop in the middle of highway traffic…
The coil packs of the 2020 model have gotten a reputation for going out with no warning. It often happens well driving. In my case, two went bad and I had to limp home. Riding like this can further damage the engine. In some cases this happens to people when they are far away from any place and can end up stranded. A quick Google search of this model in year and coil packs will yield thousands of forum posts stating the problem and questions of why BMW has not done more to fix this. They have since changed the coil pack and the ones they put on that biker no longer available. The replacement sell from BMW for $200 each. If you don't replace all four, then you're just biting time till the nex…
Carbon fiber rims developed bubble with minor air leakage...about ~2psi per day. First noticed this deformity around ~Nov 2024 If there is a micro crack developed along the valve stem on a carbon fiber rim, then the wheel forces can cause the crack to grow and sudden loss of pressure, resulting in severe injury. Brought the motorcycle to a BMW dealership. BMW Motorrad says it is out of warranty and not a safety issue. Warning lamps only came on when tire is low on air. Online research indicates that this is/was a problem with 2020 K67 chassis equipped with Carbon Fiber rims
These model âK67â BMW bikes have been having issues with ignition coil failures on multiple bikes. I have had two failures so far within a 3 month/1500mile span on my bike. Initial failure caused bike to shut off suddenly while riding (9-16-24 roughly 5200 miles) dealership replaced coil under warranty Cylinder 4 failure. Second time(12-31-24 roughly 6,626 miles) bike cut off all power on the freeway causing wait of 3 hours for BMW to have a tow sent out. Pulled codes and found the same coil failure codes as previous incident. Multiple groups & forums of people having the same failures on these bikes. Iâve already had to have a very common water pump failure on this bike at 1800 miles…
In a sunny Sunday , S1000RR BlackStorm, 3207 miles. Riding I stop a in a awesome spot for pictures but when I turn off the key, the starter activates, I turned on the key and bike turned on automatically, I press the kill switch , the starter activates again. I press the starter and bike turn on. I continue to home 26 km from the place of situation. When I arraigo home I turned off the switch and bike turned off. Now bike wonât start. Full of gas, Battery full, fuse of 40 starter healthy, when I press the starter red button, I hear a click near the left side , near starter, but wonât start. No messages in the panel. The safety issue is that pressing the kill switch, moto remains startin…
The bike surges at about 6,000 rpm. Have had it to dealer 5 times total and they canât find issue. Iâve offered to take bike to a dyno so I can reproduce issue. But Mark Pechko from Bmw North America wonât let dealers do that. Causes hand slipping on throttle. Attached is link to TikTok where I preform issue over and over in a safe manner and with in the law. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRToHTKV/
The contact owns a 2023 BMW S 1000 RR. The contact stated that on four separate occasions while riding approximately 80 MPH, the contact attempted to accelerate; however, the motorcycle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the roadway and restarted the motorcycle after several minutes. The motorcycle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,500.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Return Combination Switch
After a quality inspection it was found that due to improper machining, the right-side chain tensioner screw plug doesnât meet the specifications over the service life of the motorcycle. As a result, over increased mileage accrued noise and engine damage may occur.
When turning the wheel slowly, you might hear rattling noises from inside. Sometimes during manufacturing ,the core doesn't fully detach from the wheel. These core pieces can break off and rattle inside the wheel.
Traces of wear seem to be found on the needle bearing bush of the rear suspension strut. The ZnNi (zinc-nickel) corrosion protection coating can be worn in the area of the race for the needles of thebearing and does not constitute bearing bush wear.
Customer complains when the bike parked and without the engine running; while compressing and lettingthe rear suspension rebound, there is a loud audible cracking or groaning noise. This is either due to low grease levels on the bearing positions or bearing position damage.
Exhaust Camshaft Adjuster Switch Cam
On several M 1000 XR, M 1000 R and S 1000 RR vehicles with Front telescopic fork covers (Part numbers31 42 1 754 557 and 31 42 1 757 701) lubricant residue is visible on the right fork cover. This is assembly grease, not a leaking fork cover. Several covers have been leakage tested and no leakwas found.

Inspection and Return - Brake Calipers
Inspection and Return - Set of Gaskets
During the production of the intake camshaft there was a change in the coolant used to prevent localized overheating of parts of the camshaft. Because of this, certain parts of the camshaft may have a changed surface hardness that can result in increased wear of the rocker arms and camshaft over time.
Due to a software error, the smart phone with connected app is paired to the motorcycle, but the app does not connect to the motorcycle.

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2025, owners most often name: engine, electrical system, fuel/propulsion system. 30 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
