My BMW has an open safety recall involving the starter, and the required repair is currently unavailable. I am serving overseas on U.S. Air Force military orders and need to ship my personally owned vehicle to my overseas duty location. Because the recall has not been repaired, I cannot reasonably use the normal military Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) shipment process. I was advised that the VPC would disconnect the vehicleâs battery because of the unresolved recall. I would then be responsible for costs associated with reprogramming or restoring the vehicle after shipment. Because of this, I am now having to arrange and pay out of pocket for commercial overseas shipment instead of using…
Small drops of liquid from the crankcase ventilation system Are dripping onto the water pump's electrical plug connector which can be a electrical fire risk. Can cause false âlow coolantâ reading due to corroded wires but there is not loss of coolant
COMPONENT: Engine mounts (left and right hydraulic engine mounts). Both are still installed on the vehicle and are available for inspection on request. FAILURE DESCRIPTION: I began hearing a knocking noise from the engine bay whenever I accelerated. I first noticed it on approximately August 19, 2026. The noise occurred under acceleration only and was not present at idle. There were no warning lamps, dashboard messages, or check engine indicators at any point before or after the noise began, and none are present now. The knocking noise was the only symptom. CONFIRMED BY DEALER: Yes. I brought the vehicle to Long Beach BMW Service Center on August 29, 2026 at 31,990 miles. The technician in…
The contact owns a 2022 BMW 430I. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V056000 (Electrical System). The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the part for the recall repair would be unavailable for six weeks. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I am reporting a potential safety defect involving water intrusion into the amplifier location on my BMW F33. According to the dealer's diagnosis, water entered the area containing the amplifier, causing failure of the audio system and the loss of audible safety warnings and alerts. As a result, the vehicle no longer provides audible safety notifications that are intended to warn the driver of potentially hazardous conditions. I believe this condition is caused by a design defect that allows water intrusion and creates an unreasonable safety risk. Research indicates BMW has issued technical service information addressing this condition. I have not taken possession of the vehicle because I am…
The contact owns a 2024 BMW 430I. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V438000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the unrepaired recall repair was a safety hazard. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The contact owns a 2019 BMW 430I. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH and switching lanes, there was a loud explosion. The contact was unable to determine the cause of the sound. The contact pulled over to the side of the road to inspect the tires and discovered that the sunroof had shattered upward. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 131,992.
One year after purchasing this new vehicle, the two rear tires were worn to 4/32nds. The dealer advised they need to be replaced. I am [XXX], with no accelerated starts or hard braking, so after one year and 7,500 miles, the rear tires were up for replacement. The dealer reluctantly did a forced balance, which I paid for and BMW Corporate reimbursed. They did not do anything for toe/camber. I do not know if they were out of spec from the factory for balance, toe/camber/alignment or if the tires were faulty. The dealers' only guidance was to replace. So I went to a Firestone dealer and had the tires replaced 255/35R19 96Y for $200 less than the BMW dealer wanted to sell them. INFORMATION REDA…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

The protective film which covers the 6 threaded connection holes on the DSC hydro unit may not have been completely removed before the brake line was fastened. This can lead to a gradual loss of brake fluid at the threaded connection. As a result, the driver is alerted at an early stage by a red Check Control Message stating âBrake system defective. Stop carefully. Do not continue driving. Call BMW Roadside Assistanceâ. However, there is no functional limitation of the brake.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
