What BMW 330I owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See BMW 330I safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

The vehicle systems named most often in BMW 330I complaints (one complaint can name several).

Before the collision, my 2025 BMW 330i stalled when I tried to accelerate, so I moved into the right slow lane. The vehicle also stalled during the collision. My VIN lookup shows an unrepaired recall involving the starter-generator. I do not know whether the recall issue caused the stalling. My windshield was foggy, limiting my visibility on the left side. I could see to the right and saw another driver trying to go around me. During impact, I tried to regain control, but the steering wheel felt stuck. My vehicle rolled over. I cannot determine whether the visibility or steering conditions contributed to the crash. Dealer refused to let me inspect the vehicle, would not release the footag…
Several months ago, my digital cluster on my 2020 330i blacked out briefly and came back on. The other day, after temporarily disconnecting the batter and correctly reconnecting, the digital cluster and driver assist items all failed. Because of this failure, I no longer have access to my speedometer, engine temperature, or engine lights in the event that something needs immediate attention. Not having the speedometer requires me to check my speed using a GPS device would causes me to divert my attention from the road which is a hazard to pedestrians and drivers alike. I also do not have the driver assist items which can result in an accident which would injure both myself and other driver…
Purchased the car 8/15/26 from a local BMW dealer. The car has 5,000 miles on it and has only been owned by the dealership until I purchased it. On 9/6/26, while parked in my garage, the tire blewout spontaneously. The force knocked items off my garage wall. The sound was captured on my home security system despite being no where near the incident. Dealer claims there was no prior damage, and the car has not sustained any damage since the purchase.
I own a 2023 BMW 330i xDrive. The factory passenger-side/right-front inner LED daytime running light has failed while the other headlight functions continue to operate normally. The vehicle has not been involved in a collision, the headlight has not been physically damaged, and no aftermarket DRL or headlight components have been installed. The affected factory BMW/HELLA right-front headlamp is BMW part number 63 11 7 886 944 (63117886944), with HELLA number 7886664-03 and HELLA assembly number 1EX 016.437-46. I was advised that correcting the failed integrated DRL may require replacement of the complete headlight assembly rather than replacement of a simple bulb or inexpensive serviceable…
On XXX approximately 2:02am my car was seen on fire parked in driveway on [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The left hydraulic engine motor mount (P/N 22117581621) completely collapsed and failed at 6 years and only 24,811 miles. The right mount was also replaced at the same time (P/N 22117581622). The failure allows unsafe, excessive engine movement and shifting under rotational torque loads. This shifting creates an immediate safety hazard, risking the sudden compromise of surrounding mechanical systems, cooling lines, and electrical harnesses while the vehicle is in motion. BMW North America acknowledged the premature nature of the failure by approving a goodwill repair for the labor costs but forced me to pay out-of-pocket for the defective parts. The engine mount issue was detected when the v…

Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: engine, electrical system, unknown or other. 217 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
