What Audi SQ8 owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Audi SQ8 safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

the water pump failed on my 2020 Audi SQ 8 at approximately 42K miles. before diagnosis the engine temperate gauge repeatedly fluctuated while driving. An Audi specialist shop diagnosed the issue as a failed water pump. A failure at this mileage is premature and presents a safety concern as this could result in a catastrophic engine failure. I am requesting that NTHSA evaluate whether similar failures involving the 4.0 liter twin-turbo Audi SQ8 cooling system.
I am reporting a serious safety defect involving the door locking and electrical systems in my 2024 Audi SQ8. On two separate occasions the vehicle experienced a complete electrical malfunction. During the first incident, I and my child were trapped inside the vehicle. The doors would not open from the inside and the vehicle would not start. After the first incident, the vehicle was taken to an Audi dealership for inspection and repair. I was informed that the issue had been identified and repaired. Despite those repairs, the same safety issue occurred again. During the second incident, which was captured on video, the vehicle would not start despite repeated attempts. The vehicle malfunct…
About a year ago, right after the warranty period was over, the water pump and related had to be replaced and car would not run right. This water pump is a well known issue with audi and had a recall already. My car was the year after but it happens to almost everyone at around 50-55k miles. This 2022 Audi SQ8 should be part of the recall process. It is a danger, it is well documented as a problem and should be fixed.
Engine overheating due to a bad water pump and thermostat, leak in coolant system. Car only had 30,000 miles on it. This model should be included in the Audi/VW lawsuit, [XXX] , et al. v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., et al., Civil Action No. XXX. I should be entitled to the extended warranty granted through this lawsuit. Problem was corrected through warranty repair completed on 3/31/2026. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Our electrical system is going craze. The electronic door handles will lock us in and out of the car, the instrument cluster will black out for periods, safety sensors go off at random, other screens in car will black out leaving controls in operable, and wireless car charger will heat the phone so hot that we have been burnt. We have take to the dealer several times. Some visits they claim they can not duplicate. They have replaced two of the door handles but they still at random do the same thing. There have been numerous system updates done to the car but it does not seem to help. We are told that the solution for these problems have not been developed yet by the manufacturer. There are n…
Excessive Engine Oil Consumption. Audi Corp is attempting to rebuild the engine vs replacement leading to increased customer risk and downtime. My SQ8 has been in the shop for 250 days due to serval rebuild attempts with the dealer requesting a new engine and Audi denying forcing the rebuild even after several failed attempts. Vehicle will abruptly apply full force braking- Without waring or other vehicles nearby our 2022 Audi SQ8 will apply the brakes to a full stop. This has almost caused a major accident for me and my wife on several occurrences.
The contact owns a 2023 Audi SQ8. While refueling the vehicle, the contact became aware that the electric actuator had fractured. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who confirmed that there was no emergency fuel door release. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided information about the red door release. The failure mileage was approximately 3,700. The VIN was not available.
Water pump failure at 52,000 miles. Many other reporting same issue. Previous model years covered in a recall. This 2022 is not but should be with all the same complaints out there.

A particularly noticeable factor is the vibration of the air column in a tire. When a tire starts to vibrate because of the road contact, this can lead to cavity resonances inside the tire that are transmitted via the wheel rim and the running gear to the vehicle interior. Because of the vehicle design and due to the specific properties of different wheel and tire combinations, a whining noise can occur at high speeds. This is a result of toroidal resonance whose frequency is noticeable between 180 - 250 Hz irrespective of the vehicle speed.

No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
