What Audi Q7 owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Audi Q7 safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

The vehicle systems named most often in Audi Q7 complaints (one complaint can name several).
In the owners’ own words, as filed with NHTSA. Unverified reports; NHTSA removes personal details before publishing.
Active Lane Assist defect that causes uncommanded, abrupt steering to the left without driver input, most often in intersections where lane markings disappear. The system cannot be deactivated, creating a risk of loss of vehicle control and a crash. The dealer says it is a software issue with no manufacturer fix available.
While driving, the vehicle displayed an error message (occurring when going downhill), limited engine RPM to 1200, and illuminated a warning instructing the driver not to exceed 1200 RPM â a limp-mode condition that severely limited acceleration and the ability to maintain speed in traffic. On other occasions the vehicle entered limp mode and shut down while driving. The selling dealer, Audi Mohegan Lake (Mohegan Lake, NY), checked all systems, stored fault code P060C00, and stated a software update was needed, referencing TSB-2067767 â but advised the fix was not available. Audi was unable to diagnose or repair the defect. A buyback request was filed in April 2023 (Audi case AU-2023-046…
What happened: During routine service on XXX at 64,148 miles, an independent Audi specialist ([XXX], [XXX]) found low coolant, coolant leaking into the vacuum system, and coolant on the belt drive. On XXX the shop replaced the water pump, thermostat, vacuum pump, vacuum tank, and vacuum lines at a cost of $6,314.30. Safety risk: The failure was found before any on-road incident. Left undetected, continued coolant loss could cause engine overheating and a stall while driving. Coolant contamination of the vacuum system and coolant on the drive belt could also compromise systems that depend on them. This failure mode is documented across EA839-equipped vehicles and is the subject of a pending …
I have a 2018 Audi Q7 3.0L with 86K miles on it. I discovered 1 of the rear coil springs was broke and both rear perches were very rusted. I had a local mechanic, who specializes in AUDIs, replace both rear springs and perches with OEM parts. After replacing everything, the mechanic went to take the car on a test drive. He said one of the new springs broke right away. The spring that broke was in the exact same location as the one that originally broke and it broke in the EXACT same way.
It is listed as Instrument cluster malfunction with a couple lights on like Brake, ABS, steering wheel with exclamation point next to it. Often when Iâm driving the screen in front of me that tells me my speed will go extremely dark to the point you can barely read what it says on it. I have not taken it to a dealership or service place yet but this is part of a recall that my car does not qualify for. One day it just started in January and despite efforts to reset it, has not gone away. The lights stay on at all times.
The contact owns a 2013 Audi Q7. The contact stated that there was a fuel odor inside the vehicle that became stronger over time. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic and was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V298000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); and the recall repair had been completed on May 14, 2018. The contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.
About 3 weeks ago I started to slightly smell gas around my car. As I drove it the smell started getting worse and I noticed what looks like a gas leak leaking from under the drivers side back door area under my car. So I took it to Meadlins Auto Care to be diagnosed and they said that the lower intank fuel pump needs to be replaced and that the car is very dangerous to drive because of the gas fumes leaking inside and outside of the vehicle.
During summer 2026 the check-engine light on our 2019 Audi Q7 came on BEFORE its first August service/oil-change visit. The light remained on when the dealer returned the vehicle. Within days, the driver found cruise control no longer worked; it had worked before that visit. She called the dealer in mid-August to arrange a return. At the second visit, the dealer reported intake-manifold runner controls for banks 1 and 2 stuck closed and recorded: "water pump has failed internally, causing a vacuum leak". The water pump was replaced. After the second visit, around August 28, 2026, a high-pitched whining/squealing noise began. It occurred while coasting or going downhill and generally when t…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
This bulletin provides general information about the current tpp issues for Audi connect.
This bulletin provides information when the horn sound quality is poor.
This bulletin provides informaitn when there is a warning messsage; "Instrument cluster: fault. Limited warning messages. Please contact workshop"; DTC B200096.
A particularly noticeable factor is the vibration of the air column in a tire. When a tire starts to vibrate because of the road contact, this can lead to cavity resonances inside the tire that are transmitted via the wheel rim and the running gear to the vehicle interior. Because of the vehicle design and due to the specific properties of different wheel and tire combinations, a whining noise can occur at high speeds. This is a result of toroidal resonance whose frequency is noticeable between 180 - 250 Hz irrespective of the vehicle speed.
This bulletin provides information when there are cracks on the friction ring surface on ceramic brake discs.
This bulletin provides information when there is a wheel/tire imbalance.
This bulletin provides information for all models regarding brake sounds.
This bulletin provides information on the zirconium insercts in the brake piston (ceramic brakes only).
This TSB describes a corrosion issue due to outside influence and the prohibition of warranty in these cases.
This bulletin provides information when there is corrosion on the friction survace of steel brake discs.
This bulletin provides information when there is an issue with wireless charging/wireless charging is not working.
This bulletin provides information when the steering wheel clicks when it is adjusted vertically.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
The Office of Defects Investgation (ODI) opened EA11-003 on February 7, 2011, based on 160 complaints to ODI and Volkswagen involving high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failures in model year (MY) 2009 through 2010 Volkswagen Jetta and Golf and Audi A3 TDI vehicles and questions regarding fuel sample results provided by Volkswagen as part of its response to PE10-034.During EA11-003, ODI analyzed design information, field experience and test data for MY 2009 through 2012 Volkswagen Jetta, Golf and To
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2027, owners most often name: engine, exterior lighting, electrical system. 897 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
