What Audi e-tron owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Audi e-tron safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

The contact owns a 2019 Audi E-Tron Quattro. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle intermittently failed to stop while depressing the brake pedal. The contact was forced to depress the brake pedal to the floorboard to stop the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V621000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. Additionally, the contact stated that there was water leaking into the vehicle from the dome light. The contact stated that water had accumulated around the sunroof and believed that the sunroof was the source of the leak. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
While I was driving my Audi e-tron GT, the vehicle spontaneously caught fire. I believe the fire resulted from a catastrophic high-voltage battery failure. The fire created an immediate risk of injury to me and others nearby. I am reporting this as a serious safety concern.

- Vehicle was brought in operable condition to Audi service center for NHTSA recall numbers 25V900 and 26V240 on 06/18/26. - On 06/19/26, the Audi service center informed me after completing the 90TV software update (25V900) that every single light is on, on the dash and that they have to do a battery evaluation. - On 06/23/26, the Audi service center informed me a TAC ticket was created and they were waiting for a response. - On 06/30/26, the Audi service center informed me that they will have to replace a gateway control module after being informed by their TAC department while adding that the module is on backorder. - The vehicle as of today (09/17/26) is still at the Audi service center …
Multiple times and at random times the vehicle reports "Central locking: malfunction! See owner's manual". When this happens, the driver's door is completely locked and driver cannot exit the vehicle. Door cannot be opened from outside either. So far this has only caused real delays, but this is a safety issue. I have reported the problem to Audi dealer but they advised that Audi has instructed them to apply software updates and not replace any parts. While the issue continues to re-appear, the dealer has dragged their feet to the point that vehicle is now out of the standard warranty. In researching the issue, this seems to be widely spread on Audi after 2019. Mine vehicle is a 2019 Audi e-…
2021 Audi e-tron, 44,749 miles. Right after a scheduled service at Audi [XXX] on XXX, I noticed a loud droning/humming noise from the drivetrain while driving. The noise tracks with vehicle speed - it gets louder and higher-pitched as the car goes faster. I called the dealership to report it as soon as I got the car back in late XXX. Nobody responded. The noise is still present today, roughly five months later, at about 48,000 miles. The symptom matches Audi's own technical service bulletin 2047920 (rev 7), which covers 2020-2025 Audi vehicles including the e-tron: a humming/booming noise while driving whose frequency rises with speed, caused by mechanical damage to the front wheel bearing.…
While driving, the vehicle displayed three simultaneous warnings â âDrive system malfunction, safely stop vehicle,â âElectrical system malfunction, restart not possible, contact service,â and âAll-wheel drive malfunction, limited stabilityâ â and lost propulsion completely. This occurred on at least two separate occasions while driving. After each event, the vehicle would not restart for approximately 15 minutes, after which it began working again temporarily. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Audi dealer, which found no coolant in the front drive motor and diagnosed a fault in the SX6 high-voltage battery switching module, which controls connection of the high-voltage b…
The vehicle is experiencing an intermittent but active 'Electrical system: malfunction!' safety alert on the dashboard and myAudi app, caused by an internal high-voltage battery cell circuit fault (Diagnostic Trouble Code P0DB400 / U04A300) and a failure in the battery thermal runaway detection system. When the fault occurs, the vehicle suffers a complete loss of regenerative braking, severely affecting stopping predictability and vehicle handling. An authorized Audi dealership (Audi West Chester) confirmed the internal module failure under TAC Case NF-1675032 and directed a full battery module replacement. Diagnostic scans have confirmed two highly critical manufacturer trouble codes: P0D…

A particularly noticeable factor is the vibration of the air column in a tire. When a tire starts to vibrate because of the road contact, this can lead to cavity resonances inside the tire that are transmitted via the wheel rim and the running gear to the vehicle interior. Because of the vehicle design and due to the specific properties of different wheel and tire combinations, a whining noise can occur at high speeds. This is a result of toroidal resonance whose frequency is noticeable between 180 - 250 Hz irrespective of the vehicle speed.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-spe

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2019–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, unknown or other, power train. 195 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
