What Audi A7 owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Audi A7 safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

The vehicle systems named most often in Audi A7 complaints (one complaint can name several).
In the owners’ own words, as filed with NHTSA. Unverified reports; NHTSA removes personal details before publishing.
While driving on the freeway at approximately 65â70 mph, the engine suddenly stopped responding to all accelerator pedal inputs. The vehicle experienced an immediate, dangerous loss of motive power in active traffic. The dashboard displayed an amber check engine light alongside the central master warning light (an amber triangle with an exclamation point inside). I was forced to coast across active lanes of highway traffic to reach the right-hand shoulder. A State Trooper was on the shoulder and approached me, but there was no formal report. After turning the vehicle completely off and waiting, the system temporarily reset, and throttle response returned. The following day, the exact same …
The contact owns a 2019 Audi A7. The contact stated the engine had been overheating, and the contact had to pull over to add coolant to the coolant reservoir before continuing to drive. The failure became more persistent within the last 2 months. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and it was determined that there was coolant leaking into the engine from the water pump, vacuum lines, and the cooling system was inoperable. The part was ordered to repair the vehicle. The contact researched online and discovered that there was a Class Action Lawsuit associated with the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Audi A7. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25-27 MPH, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the message "Engine Malfunction" was displayed. The vehicle then restarted independently, but the message remained displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
The car shut-off on three separate occasions while driving on [XXX] in Wesley Chapel, FL (twice) and once while traveling south on [XXX] in Orlando. There were multiple warning lamps and messages and I am requesting the BSG be replaced on this vehicle and the dealership refuses to replace it, although there is a manufacturer recall on this part that is a ticking time-bomb that may cause the car to shut off again while driving. When this occurs, you cannot put the car in gear and it presented a clear and present danger to the driver and their passengers. The dealership continues to try and fix other things and not the immediate and present issue of the BSG replacement. Someone please assi…
At approximately 43,044 miles, my 2021 Audi A7 55 TFSI e quattro (PHEV) was diagnosed with a failed N632 coolant changeover valve â a component of the PHEV thermal management heating circuit. The vehicle has a complete, documented service history with no maintenance gaps. The N632 is an electronically controlled valve that routes coolant between the combustion and hybrid/electric circuits and is essential for cabin heating in EV mode, battery pre-conditioning, and engine warm-up. Failure of this valve can result in loss of cabin heat, coolant leaks into the engine bay, and potential cascade of electrical faults if coolant migrates into the wiring harness. The repair estimate is $1,700. The…
The following issues started in September 2024, however, they continue to be a problem and safety concerns. 1. The all doors of this vehicle has complications with opening as the lock and latch assembly fails. This causes issues with the doors locking or opening appropriately. The truck of the car does not open with the use of the door latch or key fob. You have to manually open the trunk. BOTH REAR HATCH MOTORS DUE TO MECHANICAL FAILURE 3. The Apple car play does no…
Component: Backup camera Issue: Recall cannot be completed Status: Manufacturer requires customer-paid repair before completing safety recall (90TV), leaving safety defect unresolved.
The first time, while driving at 50-55mph, the engine decelerated suddenly. After about 10-15 seconds struggles with the gas pedal and brake pedal, the car accelerated normally. I pulled safely to side of the road to shut off the engine and start again. Things seemed to work like normal. The control panels did not show any warning signs. The second and third times (couple weeks later), while driving around 40-45mph, the engine decelerated suddenly again. After some struggles like I did the first time, the engine accelerated like normal. Like the first time, the control panels did not display any warning signs. I took the car to the Audi dealer garage and they couldn't identify the proble…

A particularly noticeable factor is the vibration of the air column in a tire. When a tire starts to vibrate because of the road contact, this can lead to cavity resonances inside the tire that are transmitted via the wheel rim and the running gear to the vehicle interior. Because of the vehicle design and due to the specific properties of different wheel and tire combinations, a whining noise can occur at high speeds. This is a result of toroidal resonance whose frequency is noticeable between 180 - 250 Hz irrespective of the vehicle speed.
This bulletin provides information when there are cracks on the friction ring surface on ceramic brake discs.
This bulletin provides information when there is a wheel/tire imbalance.
This bulletin provides information for all models regarding brake sounds.
This bulletin provides information on the zirconium insercts in the brake piston (ceramic brakes only).

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-spe

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, engine, steering. 137 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
