What Audi A6 allroad owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Audi A6 allroad safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

Was told that the rear differential was defective and needed to be replaced. After this rear differential was replaced, it still is not fixed. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership and the manufacturer. No messages or warning lamps were activated. Symptoms of problems included reverberation of vehicle below the driver's seat, unable to keep the car in a straight line while driving. This only occurred when going a very low speeds.
Component/System: Windshield washer fluid monitoring system (level sensor and warning). Observed Behavior: The system provides no advance or âlow levelâ warning. The only alert occurs when the reservoir is completely empty, with no intermediate notification of low fluid. Failure Mode / Functional Impact: Washer function is lost suddenly without prior warning. The driver is not given an opportunity to refill fluid before the system becomes non-functional. Safety Risk: Loss of washer fluid prevents clearing road spray, salt, or debris from the windshield, causing immediate degradation of forward visibility. This is most critical during highway driving, winter conditions, and repeated wa…
My vehicle was excluded from Recall 25V20100/90VC; however, in early March 2025, it experienced the exact defect described in that recall: a complete failure of the instrument panel module. I paid $3,737.07 for the repair just weeks before the official recall began in late March 2025. I submitted a reimbursement claim to Audi of America under 49 CFR §573 and §577, including the paid invoice and all relevant documentation. Audi has since denied my claim. I am requesting your help to determine why my VIN was excluded from the known safety defect population. If my vehicle was not included, it suggests the recall may have been under-inclusive.
The car has traffic sign recognition and uses it for "predictive control" where the vehicle will read traffic signs and adjust the adaptive cruise control setting to based on road signs. It had previously been working well but a software update was recently performed under TSB 2074688/3 on November 6th, 2025 and problems have shown up. Specifically, the system is incorrectly reading signs and sometimes appearing to make signs up out of nowhere. This has resulted in the car slowing down quickly on highways and nearly causing a couple of rear-end collisions due to the unexpected and erratic braking at highway speeds. The car will be going back to the dealer to be looked at, however this is u…
Entered a roundabout at perhaps 15mph. RR tire hits small area on rounded curbing where a small piece of concrete curbing (perhaps 3â wide by 8â high) had come out. Tire made contact with this area. Sidewall blew out. Had to have car towed and new tire installed. Over $400. I contacted Continental USA and opened a case. They said there was nothing they could do. Suggested I have the tire dealer call them. Discount Tire, who took pictures of the sidewall issue, call Continental referencing my case. Continental told Discount Tire that they were unwilling to help. I have seen others reporting similar sidewall blowout issues on this tire. I am thankful I wasnât traveling any faste…
The Virtual Cockpit of the car (electronic screen right in front of the driver that displays speed, etc.) randomly turns off during driving, reboots, and displays an error message "Instrument Cluster Malfunction". A loud tone then chimes. This malfunction, while brief, is a safety issue due to the lack of speed information while driving.
The car does a hard braking when reversing into fairly tight parking space . Due to the over sensitivity of Audi Pre Sense feature the car brakes hard even though there is no close by object at risk of being hit . I have taken the car for the dealer and they acknowledge that the hard braking initiated by Audi Pre Sense is a feature and not a bug . One can see many threads in Reddit reporting this problem .
The alternator and starter of this car fails under heavy load due to the combined start stop engine function with heavy stop and go traffic. This is a known service problem affecting many Audis. my experience happened when I was driving home from work in heavy stop and go traffic after about 30 minutes of start and stop of the engine under these conditions the engine shut down completely and indicated a warning in the dash with an electrical system malfunction. I turned the car off and turned it back on and tried to put it into drive and shifted between park and drive and the engine still would not start. I ended up having to wait for about five minutes with the engine shut off at that point…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
This bulletin provides general information about the current tpp issues for Audi connect.
This bulletin provides information when the horn sound quality is poor.
This bulletin provides informaitn when there is a warning messsage; "Instrument cluster: fault. Limited warning messages. Please contact workshop"; DTC B200096.
A particularly noticeable factor is the vibration of the air column in a tire. When a tire starts to vibrate because of the road contact, this can lead to cavity resonances inside the tire that are transmitted via the wheel rim and the running gear to the vehicle interior. Because of the vehicle design and due to the specific properties of different wheel and tire combinations, a whining noise can occur at high speeds. This is a result of toroidal resonance whose frequency is noticeable between 180 - 250 Hz irrespective of the vehicle speed.
This bulletin provides information when there are cracks on the friction ring surface on ceramic brake discs.
This bulletin provides information when there is a wheel/tire imbalance.
This bulletin provides information for all models regarding brake sounds.
This bulletin provides information on the zirconium insercts in the brake piston (ceramic brakes only).
This TSB describes a corrosion issue due to outside influence and the prohibition of warranty in these cases.
This bulletin provides information when there is corrosion on the friction survace of steel brake discs.
This bulletin provides information when there is an issue with wireless charging/wireless charging is not working.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2020–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, forward collision avoidance, power train. 23 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
