Audi Allroad - Subframe is severely corroded noted at annual service/inspection. Audi Allroad, a vehicle marketed as a more rugged version of a standard sedan or other wagons, has severe corrosion in subframe, with a large rusted hole, unable to pass safety inspection until replaced. The car has been housed in a dry garage, has been well maintained with annual service completed at dealership since purchased, same owner, just over 40,000 miles. This problem has been the cause of a lawsuit in the Audi brand Q5 model, see reports in web search that the Allroad may also be known for this. The dealership does not state any warranty coverage for this major defect. Car was purchased to provide …
Suspension subframe crossmember (Upper)(part number 8K0505235AQ) has severe rust Corrosion perforation, and is available for inspection. Fear of unsafe vehicle operation due to the Structural integrity being severely compromised rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate. The rusted subframe as been confirmed by an Audi dealer and an independent service center. The vehicle has been inspected by the Audi dealer and the independent service center. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the discovery of the subframe failure. The rusted subframe was first discovered on May 12, 2026 by the independent service center and later confirmed by the…
The rear carrier frame has rusted through. There are trim pieces that are attached to the frame , they trap and hold moisture and salt like a cup under the frame, not visible during a regular inspection. My car only has 95k has been garage kept and taken through car washes in the winter with undercarriage wash (to no avail). After some investigation it seems that Volkwagon /Audi corp. has known about this issue since 2009 , but has kept it internally and not made owners aware of this. It would have been so simple to just remove these trim pieces and I wouldnât have this hole in my car frame, which has basically made it unsafe as this frame holds my suspension and rear differential. There h…
Rear Suspension cross- member. Extensive corrosion hidden behind stone guard trapping dirt and moisture. I would not have known the rust was there if the stone guard had not come apart from the cross member I cannot trust the safety of this vehicle until it is repaired Audi requires a dealer inspection at the cost of the consumer. Audi Suspension cross member components are the same for many models. The Allroad should be included in the class action lawsuit.
DESCRIPTION OF THE SAFETY DEFECT On February 24, 2026, an Audi-certified technician at Audi of Milwaukee discovered substantial rust perforation of the rear subframe on my 2014 Audi A4 Allroad (Repair Order #[XXX]). The technician documented the condition as follows: âINSPECTED REAR SUBFRAME CORROSION. RECOMMEND TO REPLACE REAR SUBFRAME AND RELATED PARTS.â The quoted cost to replace the rear subframe, control arms, and related components is $11,583.00. The vehicle was otherwise inspected as being in excellent condition with no body panel corrosion. Root Cause: Manufacturer-Installed Plastic Shield Design Defect (B8/B8.5 and B9 Platforms) The corrosion is caused by a design defect present…

Shortly after my warranty expired last september ([XXX]) my 2020 Audi A4 Allroad started to experience random episodes of the car's main entertainment touch screen rebooting in the middle of the car being operated. This usually would only happen once or twice during maybe an hour long car ride. Then this spring, starting in mid-March the car started to experience the MMI reboots more often, say 6-7 times over an hour long car ride. This started to happen more often, and then it would be around 4-5 times in a 20 minute car ride. I noticed that when this would happen, it would cause issues with the backup camera (the camera would stop function during the 60 second reboot. Also, if a parking s…

A particularly noticeable factor is the vibration of the air column in a tire. When a tire starts to vibrate because of the road contact, this can lead to cavity resonances inside the tire that are transmitted via the wheel rim and the running gear to the vehicle interior. Because of the vehicle design and due to the specific properties of different wheel and tire combinations, a whining noise can occur at high speeds. This is a result of toroidal resonance whose frequency is noticeable between 180 - 250 Hz irrespective of the vehicle speed.
This bulletin provides information when there are cracks on the friction ring surface on ceramic brake discs.
This bulletin provides information when there is a wheel/tire imbalance.
This bulletin provides information for all models regarding brake sounds.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2013–2026, owners most often name: steering, electrical system, engine. 252 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
