Questions

How do I know if my pet’s food is recalled?

Match the brand, product name, size, lot code and “best by” date on your bag or can against the recall notice. Each recall below links to the full notice, which lists exactly which lots are affected.

What should I do with recalled pet food?

Stop feeding it, seal it in a bag and throw it away where animals can’t reach it, or return it to the store for a refund. Wash bowls, scoops and your hands. If your pet ate it and seems unwell (vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite), call your veterinarian.

Can people get sick from recalled pet food?

Yes. Salmonella and Listeria in pet food and treats can infect people who handle them, especially children, older adults and anyone with a weakened immune system. Wash your hands after handling pet food.

How do I report a problem with pet food?

Report it to the FDA through the Safety Reporting Portal or your state’s FDA consumer complaint coordinator, and tell the manufacturer. Keep the packaging and any remaining food.
