What Toyota Yaris iA owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Toyota Yaris iA safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

I am reporting a severe vehicle safety violation involving a Westlake tire on a 2018 Toyota Yaris rented through Turo (Claim 1060794). The vehicle host rented out the vehicle with a pre-existing, structurally ruptured tire sidewall bulge on the front passenger wheel. The host took a pre-trip photo documenting the failing tire with a gauge but failed to ground the vehicle, choosing instead to temporarily inflate it with air to mask the low-pressure warning light. The tire structurally failed during operation, forcing a replacement. A formal safety investigation is requested into this safety failure for deploying a non-roadworthy, structurally compromised vehicle onto public roads. TIRE …
The infotainment display glass on my 2017 Toyota Yaris iA has a known adhesive defect that causes white "spider cracking" around the edges of the infotainment display and "ghost touches," where the touchscreen registers inputs without being touched. This can change music, navigation, phone, or menu settings while driving, creating a distraction and safety hazard. The issue occurs unpredictably and cannot be disabled by the driver, nor can the infotainment display be powered off as a solution. Mazda settled a lawsuit (Duffy, et al. v. Mazda Motor of America, Inc.) and issued Service Alert SAâ041/22 for this exact defect on the Mazda2, which uses the same Mazdaâbuilt infotainment hardwa…
Over corrected, hit a tree, flipped car 2x landed upside down white smoke started filling in the car and went completely engulfed in flames within a few minutes.
I was involved in a accident where the airbags did not deploy. I was hit on my driver's side and the vehicle was totaled but the airbags never deployed. I also dealt with electrical issues the entire time I had the vehicle. I believe the electrical issues cause the airbags not to deploy. I did receive the vehicle in that condition.
This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. I informed the Manufacturer , Yokohama, as soon as the incident occurred and had to be replaced by a tire shop. These tires can explode if they hit anything, on the side, at less than 2mph (two miles per hour).
i just got this vehicle drive it about 1000mile then i relive my toyota yaris ia 2017 have a huge dangerous problem when drive high speeds above 70mph to 80mph vehicle stall on the high way
For several years the steering has been binding and lightly locking durind highway driving. After numerous attempts to have the dealer test drive the vehicle to duplicate the problem, in 2022 they said there was a dangerous problem with the steering. They replaced the steering shaft and the problem was almost completely fixed. Gradually the steering began to bind again and on 18 Dec 2023 I asked the dealer to check the steering and they could not duplicate the problem during a test drive.
At about 25,000 miles, my vehicle steering began to lightly bind when driving on a straight road at highway speed. Although the steering wheel could be turned with some minor extra effort, the experience was troubling. At 29,880 miles I took my vehicle to the local dealer and asked to have the steering checked. The dealer was not able to duplicate the problem and they did not charge me. The problem gradually worsened until 41,020 miles when I returned to the dealer with the same issue. This time they found the steering shaft assembly was defective and said that it was a dangerous situation. I asked them to fix the problem which they did promptly. I have service records from both vi…

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2017–2018, owners most often name: air bags, fuel/propulsion system, tires. 24 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
