Unknown, âI recently received a Customer Support Program notice from Toyota regarding a known transmission noise affecting certain 2018 Toyota C-HR vehicles. My vehicle exhibits the exact symptoms described in the bulletinâspecifically, a small plane-like engine sound when driving between 20 and 40 mph. âOn XXX, I brought my vehicle to Toyota of [XXX] for diagnosis and service under this program. However, the dealership returned the vehicle without performing any repairs, claiming that it is outside the program's coverage. Given that my vehicle's symptoms directly match the documented defect covered by Toyota's customer support initiative, I am requesting a re-evaluation of my vehicle'…
Transmission is going out. It is sitting at the Toyota dealership in silsbee Texas. It has been recalled in Canada but not the US . IT HAS WELL KNOWN PROBLEMS AND THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. It is unsafe for me to drive and others on the road way. Toyota will not replace it. Said it was out of warranty only having 133k miles on it
The vehicle is exhibiting symptoms of the widely documented internal differential/output bearing failure associated with the Toyota K114 CVT transmission. When coastingâeven with the engine completely turned offâand during mechanical rotation of the front wheels, there is abnormal metallic clicking, clacking, and mechanical play apparently emanating directly from the center of the transaxle housing. This internal component degradation poses a potential safety hazard. A catastrophic failure of this bearing could lead to severe metallic debris entering the sealed CVT system, potentially resulting in drivetrain lock-up or an instantaneous loss of motive power at highway speeds, creating a …
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota C-HR. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the transmission bearing failed, causing the vehicle to coast to a stop on a main road. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The contact associated the failure with Customer Support Program: 26TE06 that provided a free transmission replacement for certain 2018-2019 Toyota C-HR vehicles experiencing continuously variable transmission failures. The dealer was contacted and stated that the transmission serial number on the vehicle was not included in the Customer Support Program. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
84400 miles on car. About 2 weeks ago started hearing growl when driving. No warning lights or alarms, just noise. Fearing a failure of something could put my family at risk we stopped driving the car and immediately took it to an Independent car mechanic who confirmed the transmission is failing. He called around to transmission shops and they stated they do even try to work on the Toyota CVT transmissions and only the dealer will fix them by replacement for $11k. We have satisfactorily owned Toyotas over the years and they have a great reputation but this transmission is a failed design. There is no way a transmission should fail in this short of time with this few miles. Apparently ou…
Driving home from work on the freeway, the loud droning and whining sound was already present. Same issue that I thought had been previously resolved by replacing the transmission from the dealership it was purchased from. Though this time it was accompanied by a horrible grinding sound coming from the bearings in the transmission. After much research into this issue, iI found that it is a very common issue wtih this particular vehicle. Specifically the K1114 transmissions used in them. Toyota has since used different transmissions in newer models, but has not issued a recall for the ones that are so commonly breaking and keep replacing but not fixing the issue.
The transmission has failed twice. It was replaced once in 2020, right after we bought the vehicle in 2019. We have serviced the car as required at the same dealership. We were told in August 2026 by the dealership, after having the transmission serviced in the Spring of 2026, that the transmission needed to be replaced. We received a Customer Support Program letter from Toyota in September 2026 that the transmissions on 2018-2019 vehicles are being replaced because of known issues. However, they are denying it because of a serial number. There are/were warning lights, etc. It makes a sound when trying to accelerate. When we Google information, we find that there are also issues with th…
Car began making a grinding sound while driving on an expressway. From that point on, could no longer reach a speed above 30 MPH. Independent Mechanic diagnosed an issue with CVT. Car was inoperable and sat in my driveway for 8+ months as we tried getting Toyota to respond to calls and email. Received a CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM 26TE06 letter from Toyota on 12Sep2026 explaining that they would provide coverage for the repair. Had the car towed to O'Brien Toyota in Indianapolis. Dealer said that the car would not be covered because they had received a REVISED letter from Toyota that only covered a specific range of CVT serial numbers and while the CVT malfunction, model and year of my car qu…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Some 2018 â 2019 model year C-HR vehicles may exhibit a grinding and/or whining noise from the transaxle while accelerating from 15 â 30 mph and/or decelerating from 30 â 15 mph. An updated transaxle is available when the specified noise and serial number requirements are met.

State of Health (SOH): An estimate of battery health that is updated as the vehicle learns from operating and charging conditions over time. Distance Since Last Update: Indicates the distance accumulated since the last SOH calculation. A default mileage value of 40,727 at SOH 100% may be displayed until sufficient vehicle learning is completed. Once SOH value updates from 100%, the Distance Since Last Update value will re-set to 0 miles. Both SOH and Distance Since Last Update values will continue to update as the vehicle continues to learn.
Some 2026 model year bZ, bZ Woodland, and C-HR BEV vehicles may exhibit the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U255221F associated with the level 3 DC fast charging. Under certain conditions, charging may either operate normally or experience failure, with a charging malfunction message displayed on the Multi-Information Display (MID). This condition is attributed to a control logic issue and potential voltage drop affecting Plug-In Charge Control Computer Assembly functionality. The control logic has been modified to reduce the possibility of this condition.
2026 model year Toyota vehicles are equipped with driver side floor mat retainers to secure the floor mat in the correct position. In addition, some models may also utilize retainers for passenger side and rear seat floor mats. During Pre-Delivery Service (PDS), follow the appropriate Installation Procedure to attach the driver side, and if applicable, the passenger side and rear seatfloor mats to the vehicle carpet using the floor mat retainers.
During the manufacturing process, tires are mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.
A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.
Long-term or off-site storage requires special care to maintain vehicle condition. The following guidelines should be performed to minimize vehicle component/part degradation due to extendedvehicle storage conditions. Long-term storage can affect a vehicleâs systems and components. Any problems that are found should be corrected immediately.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2017–2027, owners most often name: power train, unknown or other, engine. 542 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
