What Porsche Cayenne owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Porsche Cayenne safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

Perelli scorpion Verde tires started showing sidewall degradation and pitting in 2003 or earlier â the earliest photos we have are dated 2003. The tires had to be replaced due to the degradation and we requested the tire shop to look into a warranty claim. The tire shop changed hands and we went through four managers and werenât able to get a clear answer, during that time the tires continued to get worse and pit. We found numerous reports on the Internet of the same tire having a identical issue and believe it is a material defect and safety issue of this tire.
Shortly after taking delivery of this Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle (purchased April 25, 2022, from Porsche Nashua, Nashua, NH), the backup/parking sensors failed to sound. While reversing at home, I waited for the audible warning beep that never came and slowly backed into my own parked 2017 Porsche 911. The Cayenne's door was dented; the 911 was undamaged. A functioning parking sensor system would have warned me and prevented this collision. The vehicle had passed the Porsche Approved CPO multi-point inspection, which is supposed to cover these safety systems. I consider this a safety-related defect in a certified vehicle.
The warning system continues to showing warnings and the Blind Spot and Adaptive Cruise Control render the car unsafe to drive. The other warnings has no impact of the functioning of the cars ability to be driven. After many false warnings, my wife almost ran a car off the road the first time the blind spot failure waring appeared as she had not notice it.
The Waste Gate Arm has broken on my 2019 Cayenne. This is a widely known issue with Porsches. Feels like this needs a recall. It is absurd to me that the dealers want to replace the whole turbo unit at $7-9k when a simple weld can fix. I am 6 months out of the 7 year warranty but under the 70k mileage. I am pushing the dealer to work this out. But it is crazy that Porsche isnât held accountable for a design flaw.
Complaint regarding a battery-monitoring/sensor issue, 2019 Porsche Cayenne and Porscheâs subsequent handling of the related repair. On May 22, 2023, at approximately 27,625 miles, my 2019 Porsche Cayenne was serviced by Fox Valley Porsche under Repair Order 103905. While driving a âbattery charging warning.â showed, I was very scared. Dealer diagnosed a battery sensor failure and replaced the 12-volt battery. The invoice shows a battery charge of $1,957.87, plus labor. Repair documentation states âWMJ9 â Campaign not required.â I am asking NHTSA to investigate, whether the battery-sensor condition that resulted in my battery being replaced was related to the condition addresse…
The RIGHT FRONT HEADLIGHT has experienced recurring water/moisture intrusion and has now completely failed and no longer illuminates. This creates a safety concern because the vehicle has substantially reduced forward illumination for nighttime driving. On September 23, 2024, an authorized Porsche dealer performed headlight-related warranty work. The dealerâs repair record states that both headlights were removed and the modules were swapped side-to-side during diagnosis. On September 30, only seven days later, I photographed substantial condensation/water inside the right front headlight. On October 1, 2024, I reported the continuing condition to my Porsche service advisor. In written c…
Porsche dashboard leather shrunk. Safety hazard for airbag not deploying properly. This is a common issue reported.
This engine EA839 is the same engine installed in Audiâs and which has a massive engine replacement going on now. It seems that the above engine has what is called piston slap or rocker arm failure which requires a complete engine replacement. The manufacturer knows of this problem and as of yet has not issued a recall leaving the customer with a 20,000 repair cost.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-spe

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: power train, unknown or other, engine. 393 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
