What Porsche 911 owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Porsche 911 safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

On the day of delivery of this Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle (purchased May 24, 2022, from Porsche Nashua, Nashua, NH), traction control and all-wheel-drive warnings appeared on the drive home from the dealership. The valve lift solenoid/actuator was replaced under warranty; the vehicle spent 7 days in the shop. Within four months (September 2022), the engine fault light returned and the engine had to be dropped for repair (fuel tank breather pipe replacement and DME reprogramming) â 13 more days in the shop. A certified vehicle should not suffer stability/drivetrain faults on the day of delivery.
While operating my brand new 2026 911 GT3 Touring manual with just 37 miles on the odometer, the clutch line suddenly separated from the slave cylinder. This caused an immediate losss of clutch pressure and hydraulic fluid. The slave cylinder violently disintegrated upon separation, spraying pressureized brake fluid and plastic debris from the slave cylinder into the bell housing. This debris and fluid instantly destroyed the starter motor, completely disabling the vehicle. The repair invoice shows that this cascade of events was started by the hydraulic line separation because a U clip on the hydraulic line was left open from the factory.
The contact owns a 2021 Porsche 911 Carrera S. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), the back over prevention camera displayed a distorted image, and failed to properly display the location and the size of objects behind the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V896000 (Back Over Prevention) and scheduled an appointment with the dealer to repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
This is a 2025 Porsche 911. The car came equipped with "Land Keep Assist" also referred to as "LKA". In operation it is at times terrible, and at other times genuinely frightening. The system, without warning, intervenes to change the direction of the vehicle by applying steering input. It is very, very, inaccurate and unreliable. When engaged it often is fooled by gaps in road paint markings and similar imperfections. Unlike Electronic Stability Control which intervenes to assure you can maintain the line of travel suggested by steering wheel position, this system makes an independent assessment, one which in my experience is often wrong. It gets worse. In the control screen, LKA is…
COMPONENT THAT FAILED: A high-pressure fuel injector (cylinder 2). The failed injector and engine wiring harness are available for inspection on request. The vehicle is currently at an authorized dealer. WHAT HAPPENED: While driving at approximately 35-45 mph under light throttle in normal traffic, the engine began misfiring without warning. The misfire worsened rapidly over several seconds and the engine ran roughly enough that I pulled off the road. A strong burning smell was present immediately afterward. The vehicle has continued to misfire since. SAFETY RISK: The failure caused a sudden and unexpected loss of engine performance while the vehicle was moving in traffic, with no prior wa…
Loss of power due to Injectors failure on acceleration. A reproducible pattern on HWY merges or passes for example. This is an issue that has been identified and experienced by other Porsche 992/718 owners. Issue discussed in the following thread: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
A faulty fuel line above the engine needed to be replaced. The fuel line leaked enough to pool on top of the engine. I took the car to Porsche Irvine, they fixed it under warranty and mentioned that this was not unusual and they have seen this before in MY2022 Porsche 911 cars
Strong fuel smell in rear of vehicle, Upon further inspection, it was discovered that a hard fuel line connection was leaking from a fitting on top of a very hot engine and very close to a very hot manifold. Leak was very pronounced and there was strong evidence that this leak and been dropping for some time. (staining of engine) Vehicle was brought in to dealer service for in fact confirmation of leak. There were no warning lights or CEL's whatsoever. Only a strong fuel smell in rear of vehicle. My felling is this could have been a disaster for anyone operating the vehicle or a passenger, had the dripping fuel ignited on the hot engine. Absolutely worst place to put a fuel line connection.…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has completed its review of a defect petition received on November 20, 2020 requesting an investigation into the failure of reversing lights to illuminate in certain Model Year (MY) 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera vehicle with manual transmissions. On April 26, 2013, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE13-009 to investigate 10 complaints alleging incidents of sudden coolant loss while traveling on public roadways in certain model year (MY) 2001 through 2007 Porsche 911 vehicles. The complaints alleged that pipe ends joined by epoxy to certain cooling system components may fail suddenly and separate, resulting in large volumes of coolant leakage. The investigation was opened to assess evidence of a design or manufacturing defec
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: engine, fuel/propulsion system, electrical system. 82 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
