While driving my 2014 Nissan 370Z with only around 43,000 miles, the car suddenly made a loud bang in the rear area and then would not shift normally in automatic mode while I was on the highway with my child in the car. When I inspected the underside afterward, there were no fluids leaking and I had not hit anything that could have caused the noise or malfunction of the output sensor. Shortly after, the vehicle went into limp mode and would not shift past 2nd or possibly 3rd gear. Manual mode also stopped working. This limited the car to around 25 mph, creating a dangerous situation in traffic since it could not accelerate normally. The check engine light came on, and a scan revealed a P072…
As of 05/20/2025 my vehicle would not detect the Key in the vehicle to start. Put the Key in the slot to detect just in case itâs a bad battery on the Fob and nothing was being detected. Found out the steering lock unit is faulty. Called a local Nissan dealership and was told my VIN does not fall under a recall but I am having issues regarding the recall that has been sent out to some customers regarding the steering lock unit. Not too sure what can be done at this point.
The contact called on behalf of her husband who owns a 2010 Nissan 370Z. The contact stated that while her husband was driving on a main road at 20 MPH, the passengerâs side air bag deployed. There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no injuries reported. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact was advised to contact the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced Customer Service Bulletin: P0A10; as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.
Sunday January 7th I came out to my vehicle and noticed my clutch was on the ground. I go to check my clutch fluid reservoir to just to see that it is completely bone dry. Last time I had driven the car,â was on Friday January 5th and everything was fine. Iâve had this problem previously before where if I didnât drive the car for roughly 2 weeks then my clutch fluid would be empty and Iâd have to bleed my clutch. Now it has got to the point where my clutch is on the ground and I canât get back up no matter how much I try to bleed it. Iâve looked into the issue online only to find out multiply people has the same issue with either the Slave Cylinder or the Master Cylinder to cause…
On 9/4/2023, both airbags in my daughterâs 2015 Nissan 370-Z violently exploded open erroneously at a stop-sign, when my daughter had, unknowingly, slowly rolled into the protruding hitch of the truck in front of her; the imperceptible impact of which my (driver) daughter and (passenger) son didnât feel, nor even known had happened (until after they escaped the traumatizing horror). None of the nearby witnesses could noticed the car bump either. From each of the witnessesâ perspectives, they heard a loud explosion come from the 2nd car stopped at a stop sign. Everyone in the vicinityâ¦and patrons & workers whoâd run out of the corner store⦠watched in horror, as âsmokeâ fille…
Steering lock module failure. Same issue as in 2016 (NHTSA tracking number 10929922). Car would not start. In city park and waited 4 hours for tow truck. By myself - 74 year old female. Getting dark and dealership closed. Had the exact part malfunction in 2016 and had to have it towed. Cost $1000 to fix back then. Nissan has had issues with this but has refused to recall it except for one model. This repair cost me $1400. Not just the money or inconvenience - it's dangerous. There is no way to start this car - it has to be towed!
Car exhibits behavior detailed in Nissan TSB with classification EC19-011, reference number NTB19-018. Lack of power after engine cold soak. After engine sits for days, or even hours, upon startup, the accelerator is limited to about 5mph and 1500-2000 rpm. Very slow. It does this for about 10 seconds of forward movement with pedal beyond the 5mph threshold, then returns to everything performing like normal. 10 seconds of sitting idle doesn't do it. Unfortunately, those first 10 seconds are usually when pulling out into traffic from a parking lot. Whether from my house, my garage, or from work, it's done this in all these places. Not shopping because the engine doesn't cool down during that …
My 370 Z Nissan was towed January 16, 2018 because of a problem with the electronic steering mechanism. The mileage at that time was 35,357 miles. Upon entering the car the steering wheel had locked and I could not start my car. Fortunately the car was in the garage at the time. total for repairs was $949 On March 29, 2018 a few months following with mileage at 35,857 miles I again experienced a steering lock problem and the car had to be towed once again â¦the repairs were covered at that time by warranty since this device was already replaced in January. December 9, 2021 I again experienced a problem with the steering lock mechanism mileage is 42,505 at this point on the car repairs wer…

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2020, owners most often name: steering, power train, electrical system. 207 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
