I have a 2020 GLA 250 4 matic mileage 62000 with a rear differential failure Was confirmed by a dealer. Mercedes is aware of this problem, there should be a safety recall before someone gets hurt.

My car had 78,530 miles on it when the rear differential binding causes shuddering/thumping during turns, which risks sudden wheel lockup or loss of control on sharp turns or low-traction surfaces. Please Note that Mercedes-Benz acknowledged this issue in TSB LI35.31-P-072105 but has not issued a safety recall. Dealer Diagnostic & Repair: Dealership confirmed a total component failure of the rear differential. The entire rear axle differential assembly (Part #A1763503100) and related hardware had to be removed and replaced. Total cost for rear axle replacement alone was $7,541.30.
The contact owns a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA250. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V481000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted by the manufacturer. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The windshield wipers come on when the right turn signal is used.
On 7/17/26, while driving at highway speed, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle lost power and shut off. I safely pulled over. It would not restart; a red battery warning displayed. Towed to Mercedes-Benz of Wilkes-Barre, RO #8388432. Dealer found battery severely discharged, replaced it, then found engine would not turn by hand. Diagnosis: internal engine damage/seized; recommended full engine replacement, est. $20,128, on a 2021 GLA 250 with 82,137 miles. MBUSA TSB MC-10241534-0001 (8/4/2023) extends the emission warranty on the exhaust valve assembly (cylinder head, exhaust valves, valve seat rings/guides) on the M260 2.0L turbo engine from 4yr/50k mi to 15yr/150k mi, cove…
My vehicle is a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 4Matic with 79,779 miles. It is actively experiencing the severe, hazardous drivability issues detailed in your filingsâspecifically, unexpectedly rejecting gears and shifting into Neutral or Park when coming to a complete stop. This condition leaves the vehicle completely stranded at intersections, creating an immediate and unreasonable risk of a rear-end collision. Objective Diagnostic Data (Documented September 16, 2026): A professional diagnostic scan of my powertrain system failed due to critical communication dropouts. The scanner pulled active Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U1457, explicitly defined as: "The Signal 'Fuel Level' From The Rear…
After the vehicle's main battery fully discharged and the vehicle was jump-started, multiple SRS / driver airbag warnings appeared immediately, the horn and steering wheel controls stopped working, and a clicking noise developed in the steering column when turning the wheel. None of these symptoms existed before the battery discharge / jump-start event. Mercedes-Benz of Sarasota (Repair Order / Invoice 675113) performed XENTRY diagnostics and documented fault codes B000113 and B000213 (driver airbag squib stage 1 and stage 2 malfunction - open circuit), U100800 (LIN bus 1 malfunction in the steering column module), and B1F4500 (starter battery excessive resistance current; 12V battery faile…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Complaint Intermittent shift feel or thud/clunk noise perceived, such as a brief jerk or transmission reaction during certain driving situations. May be most noticeable when transitioning from a coasting condition to accelerator pedal application. May occur in all drive modes. Cause Dualâclutch transmissions (DCT) inherently exhibit more dynamic shifting behavior compared to other types of transmissions. This is due to the use of physical clutches for starting and gear changes. In certain situations, dynamic driving behavior can lead to a slight jerk sensation which is a normal technical cha

When performing a quick test, the following fault code is stored in Y3/14 â Transmission control for 8âspeed dualâclutch transmission (DKG): P24F100 The wakeâup line of the control unit has a short circuit to positive. Cause Possible signal timing between EZS control unit and Transmission Control Unit (DKG) Remedy As of 7/15/2026, new SCN coding is available for the EZS control unit. IPR will advise to open a TIPS case for EZS (N73), this is due to GLA models requiring support for SCN coding p
Complaint Frequent rear view camera flap actuations and/or noise associated. NOTE: Rear view camera functions are NOT affected and still perform in accordance with regulatory requirements. Cause Calibration of the reversing camera is in progress. This is not a malfunction, but an intended system behavior. Remedy An optimization has been implemented to reduce the quantity of rearview camera flap actuations for calibration. Open an XSS case requesting addition of the option code "0O1" (Zero, "O", "1"). Once the option code has been added, perform the below based on which option codes the vehicle

Complaint Tailgate opens unintentionally. Cause Accidental or unnoticed activation of the button to open the tailgate on the vehicle key. EXAMPLE: when stored in trouser pocket, handbag etc. Remedy As of the 6th generation, the vehicle key can be recoded so that the tailgate no longer opens as a result of a long press on the button, but by doubleâclicking on the button instead. This reduces the likelihood of the button being activated accidentally or unintentionally. The recoding can be carried out as follows: 1. Add SA Code O19 into VeDoc (O for Oscar, not "zero") ⢠an XSS ticket may be n

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2014–2026, owners most often name: engine, unknown or other, electrical system. 303 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
