What Lexus RZ owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Lexus RZ safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, my car experienced a sudden, catastrophic failure of braking system while in motion, at my home. I brought the vehicle into Lexus of Concord on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, . The power assist failed completely with zero advance warning, dropping the vehicle instantly into manual, unassisted braking and lighting up the dashboard with multiple system failures. Quite luckily, no bodily injury or additional vehicular damage resulted from this failure. The Diagnostic Trouble Codes the vehicleâs computer system logged were C13D900, on July 14, the brake booster code. The service report stated that the master cylinder which pumps the brake fluid to the wheels was leaking in…
The contact owns a 2026 Lexus RZ 450. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the garage, the vehicle failed to start. The dealer jump-started the vehicle and the vehicle was towed to the service center, where it was determined that a module had failed and the battery was replaced. However, the contact felt unsafe driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,500.
The contact owns a 2026 Lexus RZ-450E. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and attempting to start the vehicle, the driverâs side door failed to respond. No warning light was illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to dealer, and the contact was informed that the data communication module had drained the battery and needed to be replaced. The dealer updated the software and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred approximately twelve times with the driverâs side door. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the dealer could replace the data communication module only after a software …
Went to my car on Saturday @630p to put items in my car for church the next morning. I couldn't get into my car and my car wasn't responding to my key fobs. I called the Lexus service and was closed. I got on my app and called roadside service. As I was walking (pacing) in my garage, I noticed my rear passenger tire was flat! I asked the AAA rep about my tire. He said no replacement was in my car and the tire isn't inflated with air, but foam. Additionally, he noted me not driving the car may have drained my battery. Which was about 73% last I drove it. When he looked at my car and jumped it, he noted my 2nd battery was drained. He didn't know why. He had me leave the car running for an hou…
Incident one: I was locked out of my car and needed to call Lexus roadside assistance for help. The technician struggled with the mechanical override to open the car, but was able to force it eventually. He explained the 12V battery was dead. There was nothing left on that would have drained the battery. Incident two: The following week, I was able to enter the vehicle and turn it partially on but was not able to drive the car and after I turned off the power, I was trapped in the vehicle. Lexus roadside assistance came again and jump-started the 12V battery. I left it at the dealership behind another brand new Lexus RZ with the same issue!
This a new 2026 electric car with an~80% charge in the traction battery. Unfortunately the 12 V battery failed after I got into the car and closed the car door. Nothing on the car worked including the door locks leaving me trapped. Fortunately I had my phone with me so I could call for assistance. I shudder to think if I had not or if my grand kids had been playing in the car while we werenât around. . In talking to Lexus roadside assistance something similar had occurred in south Florida that required a 911 call to save the guy inside. This is a serious problem.
The Component Affected: Electrical System / Drivetrain Propulsion. The Core Hazard: Systemic software/hardware defect causing a total failure of the 12V auxiliary system, resulting in immediate vehicle blackouts and leaving the vehicle stranded without warning. The Safety Risk: The vehicle leaves passengers and young children completely stranded in high-traffic or unsafe environments. Note that this platform is heavily affected by the active June 18, 2026 electrical system shutdown recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V393), and the unresolved 12V parasitic battery loops present an ongoing safety risk of sudden power loss. The Timeline: State that the vehicle has suffered three consecutive el…
My vehicle, a 2023 Lexus RZ 450e, has been out of service for over 30 days due to an unresolved HVAC system failure affecting cabin heating. The issue significantly impacts the safe operation of the vehicle, particularly in cold weather conditions where adequate heat is necessary for driver visibility and occupant safety. Despite the vehicle remaining under the manufacturerâs warranty, the dealership has been unable to provide a diagnosis completion or estimated time of repair. The vehicle was brought in for service on February 20, 2026, and has remained at the dealership since that time. During this period, no clear resolution timeline has been provided, and communication from both the d…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.
During the manufacturing process, tires are mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.

Long-term or off-site storage requires special care to maintain vehicle condition. The following guidelines should be implemented to minimize vehicle component/part degradation due to extended vehicle storage conditions. Long-term storage can affect a vehicleâs systems and components. Any problems that are found should be corrected immediately.
State of Health (SOH): An estimate of battery health that is updated as the vehicle learns from operating and charging conditions over time. Distance Since Last Update: Indicates the distance accumulated since the last SOH calculation. A default mileage value of 40,727 at SOH 100% may be displayed until sufficient vehicle learning is completed. Once SOH value updates from 100%, the Distance Since Last Update value will re-set to 0 miles. Both SOH and Distance Since Last Update values will continue to update as the vehicle continues to learn.
Some 2026 model year RZ 350e, RZ 450e, and RZ 550e vehicles may exhibit the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U255221F associated with the level 3 DC fast charging. Under certain conditions, charging may either operate normally or experience failure, with a charging malfunction message displayed on the Multi-Information Display (MID). This condition is attributed to a control logic issue and potential voltage drop affecting Plug-In Charge Control Computer Assembly functionality. The control logic has been modified to reduce the possibility of this condition.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2023–2027, owners most often name: electrical system, unknown or other, lane departure. 24 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
