What Hyundai Elantra Hybrid owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Hyundai Elantra Hybrid safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

The passenger rear tail light started to show condensation and pooling water after a rain. The technician stated it was fine. The passenger rear tail light started to work intermittently and now only the break light works because it is a bulb light not an LED. Replacement requires an entirely new light system put in. Even though it was showing issues before 60,000 miles, they will not honor the warranty because it completely stopped working past the warranty mileage. When attempting to find a replacement, I discovered thousands of rear passenger tail lights with the same issue. This is a manufacturer defect that needs corrected.
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving with cruise control activated, the vehicle lost motive power and failed to accelerate properly. Additionally, the engine vibrated abnormally, smoke emanated from under the hood, the message "Reduced Speed" was displayed, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was parked on the side of the road, and a tow truck and a State Trooper arrived at the scene. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the throttle had failed and needed to be replaced. The throttle was replaced and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure milea…
The vehicle's cruise control, which was set at 63 mph, set itself to 110 mph and began to accelerate before I turned it off. I reset the cruise control, and it happened again immediately afterwards.
I am the original owner of a 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Limited. At approximately 114,719 miles, the vehicle began exhibiting intermittent shaking, rumbling, swaying, wobbling, and lateral instability. The condition is most noticeable at highway speeds and after bumps or other road disturbances, although it has also occurred at lower speeds. At times, the vehicle continues swaying after the initial disturbance has passed. Wind or passing vehicles may amplify the movement, but it also occurs without those factors. Both front lower control arms were replaced. Both front struts were later found bent and replaced. The vehicle has undergone multiple inspections, alignments, balancing attempts, a…
We have had the car for 2 months and when I went out to start it the other day I noticed a large crack in the lower 1/3 of the windshield, starting at the edge/gasket of the passengers side and spreading horizontally all the way to the drivers side. There is no impact mark anywhere on the windshield leading us to believe it is a defect in the glass itself or it was not bonded properly when installed. The crack is directly in the line of sight of the driver and presents a safety hazard while driving. There were no warnings or rock chips prior to the crack showing up one morning. I have reached out to the dealer but have not received a response.
The vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine compartment fire while safely parked inside an employment parking garage in [XXX] on XXX, at approximately 3:04 PM. I was physically sitting inside the vehicle cabin when heavy smoke suddenly began pouring out from the engine bay. I immediately evacuated the vehicle for my safety. Within moments, the smoke escalated into an active, un-contained fire that completely consumed the vehicle. The local fire department responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze. The vehicle is a total loss. This safety incident occurred exactly one week after I received the official manufacturer safety recall notice by mail for Hyundai Recall 301 (NHTSA Campaign Num…
A warning about Hyundaið¡ð¡ð¡: I have learned that Hyundai recalled almost half of а million vehicles for phantom braking. This is exactly what I have being complaining about for a year and a half, starting one month after purchase, concerning my 2025 Hybrid Elantra. It would suddenly drop the speed to 20mph, creating extremely dangerous situations. I have been bumped off by the dealership, Hyundai America, and Hyundai Worldwide. They did not know what the problem was and blamed it on me. Now, when the cause is known and I inquired, I was told that my car is not listed for this fix. This is outrageous. Previously they could not find what was wrong. Now they know, but Elantra is not …
Vehicle: 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Safety Complaint: While driving on the highway, my 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid displayed a warning message stating âCheck Hybrid System. Stop Safely.â Immediately after the warning appeared, the vehicle lost power and acceleration. The car entered a reduced-power mode, making it difficult and unsafe to maintain traffic speed. The warning instructed me to stop the vehicle immediately. This occurred while I was traveling at highway speeds, creating a dangerous situation for myself, my passengers, and other drivers. The sudden loss of power could easily result in a rear-end collision or other serious accident because the vehicle is unable to accelerat…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

Some 2019MY and newer vehicles equipped with a front view camera may illuminate certain warning lights and trigger DTC C272246 fault code for the front camera. In the following cases, the front camera auto-calibration range may be exceeded while driving: ⢠If the front camera is not properly installed and is completely or partially detached. ⢠In case of excessive changes affecting the vehicle's balance (e.g., loading excessively heavy cargo in a specific location of the vehicle, or significant under-inflation of the tires). ⢠Specific road conditions affecting the vehicle's balance (e.g

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2021–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, forward collision avoidance, vehicle speed control. 135 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
