What Honda CR-Z owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Honda CR-Z safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

Poor Design to Door handles that melt in heat and you cannot enter the car except through the hatch! This should be a voluntary recall where Honda pays for the repairs to door handles that melt on the 2015 Honda CRZ as a known issue. The known issue states extreme cold also causes the plastics to become brittle and break. Honda dealership wants in excess of $1000 to "diagnose" the known problem and repair. The replacement parts are after market and cost $23.00 per door plus shipping. Honda should cover this cost!
I STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE AT THE REAR OF MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT THE TIE ROD OR END AND THE SUSPENSION SHOCK OR STRUT NEED TO BE REPLACE. CAN YOU CHECK THIS OUT FOR ME SO I WILL BE SAFE DRIVING IT. THANK YOU
The outside door handles are defective, and Honda is aware of the issue. In warm or hot weather, the door opening mechanism binds up, and eventually the stress is too great and it causes the door handle to break. The problem has been reported by nearly every CR-Z owner. For more incidents, please visit [XXX] This defect creates a significant safety issue as if both door handles are inoperable, the alternative is to crawl in through the rear hatch, climb up to the cabin, and open the door by operating the inside door handle. In my situation, I couldn't fit between the seats, so I had to operate the inside door handle with a wire coat hanger. Please contact Honda and order them to fi…
HONDA CASE 16244298. HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 20-030. 2014 Honda CRZ Ex. They used the EXACT SAME PART in 2014 with the honda civic and the honda crz. The problem is INSIDE THE PART with a bad solder. I get the exact same problem, exact same code. The problem is INSIDE the inverter used on both cars, but Bulletin only applies to the hybrid civic, and not my car. They want $3044 dollars to fix the exact same issue. The bulletin extends to 15 years, 150,000 miles. My car is at 106554 miles. still under 15/150000. what can i do?
The contact owns a 2011 Honda CR-Z. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the trunk was opened and the windshield unexpectedly shattered. There was no impact to the windshield to cause the failure. The vehicle was not taken to be inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 155,000.
The airbag light started coming on somewhere (approx) around 100K miles. I noticed that MANY hondas had takata airbags and were recalled. My airbag is also sourced from takata and I'm concerned for my safety and wondered if my car was overlooked because CR-Z models had very low volume of production. I wanted to check. I cannot financially replace this as the cost exceeds the value of the car, but it runs great and I need it for commuting. PLEASE double-check as my hunch is that my car was overlooked when assessing the takata air bag disaster. Thank you for your time and consideration.
My driverâs side door handle has broken. I have the broken handle if you need it. Itâs a safety issue because it delays entering the car from the driverâs side, which could endanger an owner or a passenger who needs to get inside the vehicle. Apparently, this is a known problem in CR-Zs and is often blamed on the car being in a hot climate (spoiler alert: Itâs getting hotter these days). My car had less than 75,000 miles on it at the time the handle broke. I have been driving since 1978, and Iâve never dealt with a broken handle before. I have had a local body shop install a new door handle; that one broke after a week of light use (driving once daily). These are expensive repairs,…
The contact owns a 2011 Honda CR-Z. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who repaired the front axle. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V256000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000. The VIN was not available.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2011–2016, owners most often name: air bags, structure, electrical system. 68 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
