While driving through the middle of a busy intersection, my 2013 Audi RS5 suddenly lost all power and was unable to engage any gears. The car came to a stop in active cross-traffic with vehicles approaching from multiple directions. I could not restart or move the car under its own power and had to push it to safety with the help of a passerby. Component that failed: Transmission / Power Train â specifically the DL501 S-Tronic Mechatronic Unit (Transmission Control Module). The part is still available for inspection at the dealership. Safety risk: This failure caused a complete loss of propulsion in active traffic, putting both myself and other drivers at risk of a collision. Dealer confir…
Vehicle: 2013 Audi RS5 Recall Reference: 37P1 / 37K8 (Transmission Control Module Software Update) After Audi performed the TCM software update for recall 37P1/37K8, my vehicle began displaying âTransmission Overheating â Please Drive Conservativelyâ warnings during normal driving, especially in stop-and-go traffic. This problem never occurred before the recall update. The warning now happens intermittently, raising concerns about: â¢Loss of drivability and safety risk if the transmission overheats while driving. â¢Premature failure of the transmission or mechatronic unit due to repeated overheating. â¢A direct link to the recall software update, since the issue began only after i…
SOS malfunction , B18BD11 code, is set off intermittently while driving. A Loud SOS alert distracts driver due to imtermittemt cable short. Defective cable needs replacing.
Could you please make Audi add my car to the recall list? Thank you- Audi has issued a recall for certain models due to a software issue affecting the Emergency Call (SOS) system. This malfunction can prevent the system from establishing an online connection and receiving cell broadcast messages, potentially hindering emergency services. The recall, designated as Service Action 90T2, involves updating the emergency call module control unit and communication unit software. Details of the Recall: Problem: A software configuration issue can lead to the SOS system's inability to establish an online connection and receive cell broadcast messages. Consequences: In rare cases, a permanent failure…
I was driving down the highway and the panoramic sunroof exploded for no known reason.
My husband and son were driving down the road and the sunroof exploded causing glass shards to go everywhere. Temp was 43 degree. According to my husband, it sounded like a bomb went off. Both my husband and son were covered in glass. We had to pull small glass pieces from my son.The vehicle is currently at the dealership. Audi has had know issues/recalls with sunroofs in the last 10 years.
Autonomous Emergency Services Notification Feature: Audi has informed its owners of vehicles made from 2018 and earlier that a safety feature provided as standard equipment in the vehicle will no longer be available because of the inevitable shut down of 3G wireless systems across North America. However, features that are not free (which require a subscription) are supported by a 4G radio in the car and will not be impacted. Owners were NEVER notified that two different wireless systems were used in the car, a 20 year old technology for safety related features, and a 4GLTE module for expensive, subscription based telematics which have nothing to do with safety. I purchased and selected my ve…
THE BREAKING SYSTEM ON MY AUDI RS5 IS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUDDER QUITE VIOLENTLY. THERE HAS BEEN SOME SHUDDERING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BUT NOW WITH ONLY 20K MILES IT IS GETTING WORSE. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT OUT, BUT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THE SHUDDERING EXPERIENCE IS NOT UNCOMMON IN THE RS5. APART FROM THE DISCOMFORT I AM CONCERNED THAT THERE COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE.

A particularly noticeable factor is the vibration of the air column in a tire. When a tire starts to vibrate because of the road contact, this can lead to cavity resonances inside the tire that are transmitted via the wheel rim and the running gear to the vehicle interior. Because of the vehicle design and due to the specific properties of different wheel and tire combinations, a whining noise can occur at high speeds. This is a result of toroidal resonance whose frequency is noticeable between 180 - 250 Hz irrespective of the vehicle speed.
This bulletin provides information when there are cracks on the friction ring surface on ceramic brake discs.
This bulletin provides information when there is a wheel/tire imbalance.
This bulletin provides information for all models regarding brake sounds.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2013–2026, owners most often name: unknown or other, electrical system, power train. 12 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
