The contact owns a 2015 Audi R8. The contact stated that the vehicle had been experiencing failures with the engine overheating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the coolant tank had expanded resulting in thermostat failure. The dealer advised the contact to replace the expansion tank and thermostat to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
The car was involved in a fatal crash where the side impact airbag (side of fatality) failed to deploy and the EDR failed to fully comply with Part 563 requirements. All other airbags and rollover system deployed but the EDR recorded only the deployment of the side impact airbag on the driver side. The EDR included 6 events and some of them have severity less than the threshold required by the regulation. There was a criminal investigation and trial as a result of the fatality and the state witnesses explained this failure due to the fact the airbag deployed so fast so the EDR could not record it. I believe the EDR failed to record the crash event correctly and also failed to deploy the s…

A particularly noticeable factor is the vibration of the air column in a tire. When a tire starts to vibrate because of the road contact, this can lead to cavity resonances inside the tire that are transmitted via the wheel rim and the running gear to the vehicle interior. Because of the vehicle design and due to the specific properties of different wheel and tire combinations, a whining noise can occur at high speeds. This is a result of toroidal resonance whose frequency is noticeable between 180 - 250 Hz irrespective of the vehicle speed.
This bulletin provides information when there are cracks on the friction ring surface on ceramic brake discs.

No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
