GE Healthcare recalls Lullaby Incubators (models XP, TR, standard) due to bedside panel potentially not latching even when appearing closed, risking patient falls if disengaged.
GE HealthCare has become aware that the bedside panel of Care Plus, Care Plus¿ Model 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 Incubator, Lullaby Incubator, Lullaby TR Incubator, and Lullaby XP Incubator can be upright and look closed but not be latched if the red indicator is visible. The portholes also can look closed when not latched when the portholes are obstructed e.g., hood covers. If a patient impacts the bedside panel or porthole that is not latched, the panel can disengage and fall open, no longer protecting the patient from falling.
GE Healthcare is recalling three types of neonatal incubators because the bedside panel might not latch properly even when it looks closed. If a patient hits an unlatched panel or porthole, it could fall open and cause the baby to fall.
The bedside panel can appear closed but not be securely latched if the red indicator light is visible. If a baby bumps into this unlatched panel or porthole, the panel might open and cause the baby to fall.
Newborns in hospitals using GE Healthcare Lullaby Incubators are most at risk. Parents or caregivers should check if their incubator model is listed in the recall.
Check for model numbers: Lullaby Incubator (M1151042, QCR031), Lullaby XP (8320, M1151135, QCR034), or Lullaby TR (M1151357). All units with these models are affected.
