Medtronic is recalling Becker External Drainage and Monitoring Systems due to cracks or leaks in stopcocks. This can cause fluid leaks, potentially leading to infections or other complications if the system is used improperly.
Cracks or leaks in the stopcocks can allow cerebrospinal fluid to escape from the system. This may lead to infections, increased risk of complications, or improper monitoring of fluid pressure and flow.
Patients using the Becker External Drainage and Monitoring System for cerebrospinal fluid drainage are most at risk. Healthcare providers who use these systems for medical monitoring may also be affected.
