  • Description: WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A voluntary recall of approximately 8,000 metal socket utility clamp lamps was announced today by the Mid-State Manufacturing Corp. of Minneapolis, Minnesota, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall is being conducted because of a potential shock or electrocution hazard from an electrical short to the metal reflector, lamp base, and handle. One consumer has received a serious electric shock using the product. The recall covers Mid-State models P60, R208, R68, R205, R65, LX6 and LG9, sold nationwide since March 1981 in retail and hardware stores including Coast-to-Coast, Gamble Skogmo, and some Hardware Hank stores. Only models with metal sockets are being recalled. The Mid-State identification appears on a cardboard tag on the product cord. Consumers should immediately stop using the product and return to the place of purchase or directly to the manufacturer for a free replacement. Mid-State Mfg.
